Mike Lopez and the world of blogging
Hello ladies and gents… Mike Lopez here and yes, I want you to remember that name. Not because I’m popular nor do I claim to be one soon but simply because I want to be your friend. I blog – sometimes a lot and sometimes none at all. As of my nationality, I think my being a member of this blog group – Pinoy Blogosphere – implies that I am Filipino.
So, what about blogging? Why is this such a craze? Everyday, new blogs are born while others die. But just like the human population, more blogs and born daily than those that cease to exist and as a result, the number of blogs – interesting or not – grow rapidly on a daily basis. But why is it such a craze?
The most basic reason why people blog is that they want to express themselves in a way not possible before. Through a blog, people can rant and ramble. It sort of acts like an online diary but this diary is readable by all. This brings us to the next reason why. Blogging makes people known on the net. The internet of course will not make you a star overnight but if you do it well, then in due time, popularity comes along and you know what usually comes after popularity…
Money! Yes, if you still don’t know how to make money on the net then you’re way far behind the rest of us. I will not be talking about the “HOW” of making money on the internet at this point – that’s for some other blog post which I don’t really know when I will be posting (hey, it’s called blogging not a job).
Also, Search Engine Optimization experts quickly realized the power of blogging in getting the top positions on major search engines. This is because blogs are full of content and are usually updated on a daily basis. In other words, it is something that search engines want. By using a basic SEO checklist, even the simplest of all bloggers have the opportunity to get a good spot in the search engines. In fact, search engines are now creating different software / algorithms / crawlers just for the sake of blogs.
There are a million other ways on why people blog and if you don’t see any reason why you should blog then I say, just start a blog, tell your story, show your blog to your friends, and before you ever know it, you’ll be a blog addict like the rest of us.
