Induced Abortion in the Philippines
During my three-day duty at the OB-GYNE outpatient department, I was overwhelmed by the number of abortion cases. We had an average of five cases a day. At least one-third of these mothers had induced abortion, which means that they resorted to mechanical or chemical means to terminate their pregnancy. Usually they seek for consult because of fever and chills, and other associated symptoms of septic abortion.
Our city is just a small portion of the Philippines, yet there are already numerous induced abortion cases encountered. It made me think (or not like to think) of the rampancy of the case nationwide. Prolife.org say that every year, as many as 750,000 women undergo induced abortion in illegal “clinics” all over the Philippines. That’s how prevalent induced abortion is. It’s quite a frustrating number.

1. Where did you grow up, and what made that place special?
I grew up on a lovely tree-lined street in a quiet subdivision in Quezon City. When I was a child there were still many empty lots on our street and in the afternoons we would chase dragonflies and play with Makahiya plants. In the evenings there would still be fireflies. It was (and still is) a very safe neighborhood.
2. What was your favorite tv show, cartoon, or children’s show growing up? What did you like about these shows that made them your favorite?
I was a child of Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Eight is Enough and Little House On The Prairie. Melissa Sue Gilbert and I belong to the same age group
I loved all the wholesome family shows and would look forward to watching them every week-end. I also enjoyed Petrocelli, Starsky and Hutch and S.W.A.T.

No second circumcision for me!
I’m back! I was out, 20 days, but I’m back! Work pressures and some other thoughts made me stop blogging for a while… But the heck, I’m back in one piece.
Finally, Mayor Aguillo of Cabuyao, Laguna made up her mind in rehabilitating the Pulo-Diezmo Road. Damn, I bet that I be circumcised again if there will be no road repairs one week before the start of filing of candidacy. My 11 years stay in Cabuyao, Laguna is enough for me to predict what will happen during this period. Thanks God!
Windows VISTA upgrades will frustrate users…
Windows VISTA finally [finally!! after 2 years!!] launches here in the Philippines… the formal launch will happen at the Mall of Asia on the 3rd of February [this coming Saturday]…
BUT, but, before you decide to take that plunge, note that Windows VISTA Upgrade Edition will likely frustrate all you XP users… according to the article, when you try to install the Upgrade Edition on a new machine, or a previously wiped out machine, Vista will not permit you to do a ‘clean’ install even if you could provide proof of possession or ownership of a previous version of Windows…
