I used Avid once, many years ago. I have been told that in every upgrade they come out with the keystrokes are different. That would drive me up the wall. I always recommend to people to at least try out some version of Final Cut Pro, whether it’s Final Cut Express, an academic version, or – if you have the money – Final Cut Studio 2. Just depends on what you can afford.
You can’t go wrong with Final Cut,
