Replace Your Dead Band Vol. 1 - NIRVANA
April 7, 2007
Remember Nirvana? Kurt didn’t commit suicide? Get over it!
Here are a few bands that approaches that hard-to-define Nirvana sound and may finally make you throw that 10-year old Nevermind cassette tape out the window -
1. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - check out their romping and aptly titled debut album, Fever to Tell. It matches Nirvana’s Bleach with its rawness and infectious raging energy. Also golden is their sophomore effort Show Your Bones.
2. The Vines- their breakout single Ride, has that signature Nirvana guitar intro. Thankfully all the other songs keep up with the smashing Animal Machine and the schizophrenic TV Pro.
3. Seether - More Creed than Nirvana, but no Nirvana means less Nirvana is better than no Nirvana.
4. Bush - Only on the The Sixteen Stone and less so on their second album, were the Nirvana influences more apparent. The gruff guitars and the song structure smells like teen spirit with a little bit of big empty (Nirvana + Stone Temple Pilots).
5. Silverchair - just look at them!
