Bisita Vista sa Semana Santa (Part 3)

(Take note that Part 2 is updated from the previous post.)

Wala ring cable TV.

(oh my God, im sorry bro but i have to tell the truth…im really sorry…) i guess having a life where you always fear that someone would just come after you because their looking for your brother has got into my nerves… im tired of it… i don’t deserve this kind of life. yeah i admit he had helped those who needs his help, and he’s great on it… but what about me? what about my family? we can’t keep the secret anymore. so now…

i’ll tell everyone… i’ll say it all out… im gonna tell you all… that my brother… (no, he’s not a pig for goodness sake! that’s an overused line!)

my brother… (im really sorry bro…) my brother… he’s… he’s…

What Your Cellphone Says About You

While randomly surfing, I came accros this article in Yahoo Tech by Gina Hughes.

There, Gina cites a survey by Nielsen Media Research which showed that your choice of mobile phone does say a *lot* about your personality. According to Nielsen Media Research associate director Mr. Jody Loughlin, “The type of mobile you’re seen with could even be more important than whether you’re with…one of the other major carriers.”

Why is My Cross Heavier?

Have you ever felt those times when the cross you’re carrying seems heavier than it should be? Much heavier than you can bear? Much heavier than the crosses other people are carrying?

Our crosses it seems, vary greatly in the burden and the difficulties they inflict upon us. Why do some crosses appear to be far easier? And why do some appear to be so huge, our trust upon God’s wisdom and justice is already shaken to its very core?

Youtube Banned in Thailand

Thailand’s military controlled government has just banned youtube to all Thailand IPs (or users).

The news, featured in NYTimes and Yahoo, described the reason for the ban was because of a video that showed offensive material about their King, Bhumibol Adulyadej. In that video, the king is shown with clown features painted onto his face and an image of feet pasted over his head, an insulting gesture in Thailand.

Blogger’s Code of Conduct

Such was the magnitude of Kathy Sierra’s experience that I read about it in our daily paper a week or so ago. She received death threats and disturbing photographs from people who thought she was too optimistic. This raised a lot of concern about online harassment and what should be done about it. Bloggers like Tim O’Reilly suggested a Blogger’s Code of Conduct similar to the guidelines being implemented by Blogher.org as a means of preventing and dealing with cyber-bullying.

It’s rare for everyone to agree on anything so not surprisingly there is an ongoing debate in the blogosphere regarding this code of conduct, discussing censorship and freedom of speech among other points being brought up. Dave Taylor is one of the bloggers who explained why he wouldn’t support such a code.

I personally don’t believe in censorship but I do believe that people should be and should be made responsible for what they say. I think it’s a matter of applying “real life” laws into the online world. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a good start, or even that lesson in kindergarten: an individual’s rights end where another’s begin.

those damned C5/Libis traffic lights by in retrospect…

dammit!!

who is/are supposed to be responsible for those damned traffic lights along C5 and Libis?? the MMDA?? the local Ortigas and/or Quezon City governments?? fuck!! someone should take them down!! they’re useless, anyway!!

i almost got into a traffic accident this afternoon because of one of these traffic lights which, although working, aren’t really used along that route, a clueless driver of a closed van, and a stupid driver of an FX taxi!! [so sorry for all these exclamations marks… i really am livid until now… sheessshhh…]…

Blogging Then, and Blogging Now

Note: Discussion of the “establishment” of Web Standards Philippines has started. If you’re an advocate of standards, or if you want to learn with us, email me at shari@misteryosa.com and I’ll add you to our Basecamp.

I’m a personal blogger who gets frustrated that personal blogging must have some kind of a guideline or something, when it should be personal in the first place, and “anything goes” is the key. That it’s always a matter of personal, individual, preferences. Or maybe it’s just me. Sometimes I lose interest in blogging because when I started doing it years ago, it’s just a hobby, not a “profession”. It’s fun. It’s therapeutic. The initial reason why (almost) everyone blogs is that it’s their outlet. Now almost everyone’s just doing it because of the money they can get.

Keysi Nunez on Religion and the Catholic Pinoy

I have no qualms with living in this country, but what sucks is that religion messes up everything! Add the stupendous thinking of other pinoys, the crab mentality, the worthless government and you have one hell of a dish. Hell I say! XD

You know the highschool kids selling ballpens, calendars and all that? Well I had a great experience with them! *overflowing sarcasm here* XD

I was quietly enjoying a nicotine break when this kid, wearing a white shirt, baston jeans, and an ID walks up to me and offers me a pen. He says that he’s in highschool and that they’re selling stuff for a project. I politely decline his offer and fish out a pen to show him that I didn’t need one. He frowns, puts the pen in his bag (girly bag BTW, lol) and then shows me a calendar. He says that he’s a working student, and that if I bought a calendar (for 40 freaking pesos), it would greatly help him finance studies. I was freaking pissed! First, he says that it was for a project, then he says that if I bought one I could help send him to school. On top of that, when I flip over the calendar, I see a picture of the Jesus Christ! This kid was getting to my nerves, but again, I politely decline his offer. He frowns for a fraction of a second then insists that I buy one. Irritably, I tell him to leave because 40 pesos is a bit too much for a freaking calendar. He begs for me to buy one and I blow my fuse. In a strained whisper, I tell him that first he was disturbing my me time, second, I’d be nuts to spend 40 pesos for a calendar, third, his insistence and appearance is getting on my nerves, and lastly, I didn’t believe in his God. He was shocked. Then he smiles, hands me the calendar and begs me again to buy it even if I wasn’t Catholic. Unbelievably pissed and irritated beyond belief, I flick my cig and go back into the building. Continue reading this post.
