Why Batman is a Better Hero Than Superman

April 27, 2007

supermanvsbatman.jpg

  1. Batman is a mortal while Superman is virtually invincible. Who knows the pain of living better than a mortal? Batman knows he can be in mortal peril but still he surges on to face danger in order to fight for what is right. Superman will not easily be in mortal peril (unless he lets Lex Luthor to stick kryptonite into him) and he knows it, and that’s why he’s confident to confront danger, not because he’s as brave as Batman.
  2. Batman is brains and brawn (gadgets + strategy + strength). He sets up a strategy: what weapons/gadgets to bring, what transport to use, etcetera. Superman just flies, lifts, throws…all brawn (just in case, you want to be more correct, the word “brawn” isn’t exactly appropriate for Superman because his powers aren’t the result of how well-developed his muscles are. He’s an alien, dammit).
  3. Batman dresses in cool goth black colors; Superman always dresses in country flag colors. Black briefs will always be sexy; red briefs look sexy on lifeguards only.
  4. Batman is an entrepreneur. His businesses generate jobs and incomes for many people who work for him. His work contributes a lot to the improvement of the economy. Superman is a reporter. Enough said.
  5. Batman represents what people can become if they really strive and work hard, and to be better than his previous self while Superman represents the things most people want to have: superpowers, to be better than everybody else. Of the two, I think Batman represents what humanity should be striving for. People must look deep within themselves, amidst the fears, and find the strength to do good. Superman only inspires people to look up into the sky when in deep shit and pray that they’ll receive help coming down from the sky.

What causes stress?

April 26, 2007

For two straight weeks now my lower back has been hurting like hell. It felt like the day after I have played a day-long tournament. It felt like the night following a whole day of carrying heavy weight - like an eleven-month old baby boy. It felt like I had been sitting in an awkward position all day long. It felt like I was ten thousand pounds heavier.

So I disregarded it (like I was swatting out a fly).

Are you stressed?

A Politically Correct Himbo

April 25, 2007

Ugh! I rarely talk about politics in my blog since it makes me feel that I really care about something. But wait I do care about something. I am not a cold hearted bastard and I always vote for world peace!

Sometimes I do wonder why most of the politicians we have are a bunch of idiots. What did they do to sway the masses to vote for them? What power do they hold during elections that they really charmed these hapless people to choose them?

I am just irritated about some governments making prostitution illegal. I mean why can’t they make it legal since it is actually a win-win situation.

The State of Philippine Internet — PLDT and Globe services from the perspective of a regular guy

April 25, 2007

the Internet has become a regular part of our daily lives and rue the day we find that we cannot go online to check our email, read online news, blogsurf, and such mundane, simple things that we’ve taken for granted thinking that they will always be on hand when and where we need them… true enough, there are now free WiFi connections sprouting around the metro — i even heard from a lady friend that Davao has a free city-wide WiFi connection — and you can’t turn your head without seeing an Internet cafe… it has become so commonplace that we can expect to be online anywhere, anytime even without a computer… there are now cellphones and phone services [3G, for example] offering online services for a measly P10 per 30 minutes!!

How To Lose Your Job 1– killing you softly

April 25, 2007

As promised, this is the second of a 3 or more part blog series on losing ones job. My objective is to educate employees to protect their jobs and for entrepreneurs to be guided on how to go about disciplining and eventually terminating an employee.

Little did employees know, they may be doing things that can be hazardous to their career and employment. While employees have the right to security of tenure, the company also have its own rights and prerogatives for profitable operations

How an employee can lose his job? Find out at Sonnie’s Porch.

Diet: Need to Bring SEX(y) Back!

April 24, 2007

Me: I’m fat. I mean, I’m really really fat. *dazed look*
Nanay: I noticed that, but I didn’t want to say anything. *tries not to laugh at my face*
Me: I must have gained 50 pounds since late last year! *wails so loudly that the salesladies looked at me*
Nanay: Even your father said something about it. *giggles*
Me: I can’t fuckin’ believe it! I’m so faaaaaaaaaaaaat!!! *slits wrists*

Is it because I’m depressed? Is it because I’m bipolar? Is it because I lost my baby? Is it because the elections is nearing?

Is it because I don’t have a boyfriend and haven’t had someone to do some hardcore lip action with since I dumped my last sex slave? Or is it because I don’t have anyone to have sex with? What the heck is wrong with me?!

Eat oysters: love longer

April 23, 2007

Last month found us trying out this new (well relatively) place at Greenbelt 3. It is located at the 2nd floor in between Big Buddha and Seafood Club where MYLK used to be. Mr. Rockefeller appeared to me like a steak and ribs place from the outside. Ive been interested in trying out their food but only had the chance when my friend decided to hold a despedida dinner for our balikbayan buddy.

My hubby and I first glanced over the menu that was perched at a stand outside the resto. I asked him if he happen to like any of the items listed. He just said - ok Ive made my choice and proceeded to walk in. My, that was fast.

Helping The Mothers of Albay

April 23, 2007

Manila Bay Sunset_erisac

Their goal is to help the women in the towns of Daraga and Guinobatan, Albay, who to this day languish in evacuation centers, caring for their children while living under appalling conditions and suffering from various women’s illnesses.

To alleviate their plight, Cathy and a group of her friends, intend to bring 500 bags containing toiletries and underwear to the women in these centers. Five hundred may not be much, but providing care and kindness to even one soul can sometimes spell the difference between hope and despair in the life of a woman who toils day and night for her family.

Advice For Those Wanting To Pursue a Medical Career

April 23, 2007

In a recent family gathering, my niece asked me if it would be advisable for her to pursue a medical career after college (which meant she has to attend medical school right after she finished college). She’s starting freshman year at DLSU on a course of Early Education.

I think it was a good sign that, even at this early stage, she was considering career possibilities and not limiting herself to simply finishing college and getting a diploma. She seemed intent on making the best career choice, with conscious assessment of her strengths and weaknesses and other factors. This is how each potential college student should think.

So, I asked her, “do you really want to be a medical doctor? As in really, really want it? Do it as a career from the time you get your license until the day you die?”

Do Follow the DoFollow List

April 22, 2007

Isa daw ‘tong Movement kaya tara isulong natin ‘to ng tuloy-tuloy :D   Tulad ng Technorari Favorites Exchange, nakita ko rin ‘to kay Manila Mom.  Marami talaga nakikita kapag nagb-bloghop. Kung anu-ano. Sangkatutak!

Kelangan nga pala ‘to:

Andy Beard’s instructions on how to remove the NoFollow for comments from the html of my Blogspot template. He has instructions for Wordpress and other formats, as well.

Kapag OK na yan, eto naman ang mga susunod:

These are the instructions: (Start copying here.)

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.

2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.

3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.

4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going!

Tried Offline Promotion

April 22, 2007

I was really thinking before of putting up a billboard about my blog :-) .Yes! but it’s too expensive and I can’t afford to finance it. However, after acquiring my Honda XRM out of my blogging earning, I eventually think of ways on promoting my blog offline. That is…. (1) by posting the domain below the plate number of the motorcycle; (2) through the business card.

You can take a look at what I did here.
