Tourism in Baguio

Continuation from this last post.

Of course, aside from our spiritual retreat in Baguio City, we traveled and visited the usual Baguio tourism and sceneries. We visited Mine’s View, Baguio Botanical Garden, The Mansion, Wagwagan, Pink Sisters Convent

One thing that my friends don’t know about me is that I am a Dog Lover. I don’t exactly have a dog in the house, but I fancy them really. I like all kinds, shapes and sizes of dog, of course, not those dogs with galis, e.g. Askals (Asong-Kalye).

Last time, I posted that we went to Baguio. We specifically visited Mine’s View.

BING RIO-LUGA

Relatives usually get together and reunited whenever somebody passes away.  I remember then when I was a child that we went to Cebu after Lola’s death.  We went over to the house of our Uncle, Gen. Emilio S. Luga, Jr., in Mabolo and was entertained by Ate Bing-Bing, the eldest among the children of Gen. Luga.

She gathered us altogether to play a bridge, a card game.  She has with her a lipstick and whoever loses shall have a mark of lipstick on his face until evening struck for us to tour Cebu City.  When darkness fell we toured Cebu until the sun rises with her as our guide. People were looking at us where ever we go since our faces were covered with lipstick.

The last time we have a family gathering was during the death of my  Uncle, Celeste Sta. Romana, the husband of Atty. Ruperta Luga-Sta. Romana, the elder sister of my father, Atty. Rodolfo S. Luga. Ate Bing was not there. She’ suffering from illness.

Lately, I was informed that she passed away.

While she was not present during our last family reunion, I hope that those left behind during our last gathering shall remember  BING-BING RIO LUGA, our cousin.

against the principles of ‘go and multiply’

“Fifty-two percent (52%) of married Filipino women do not practice any form of family planning whether artificial or natural family planning method.”

I have learned during the Regional Sharing Session on Family Planning (FP) held on June 30, 2007 that region VII has an annual population growth of 2.79% which is higher than the national average of 2.34% per annum. As we all know, Philippines is the 12th most populous in the world where Population Commission estimates that there will be 141.7 million Filipinos in the year 2040 or 3 persons per minute.

On mobility and languages

“Where are you from?” For three days last week, I was asked this question several times at the European Parliament in Brussels. What was an Asian girl doing at European Youth Media Days anyway? I would explain that I am Filipino and that I was attending because I am studying in Europe. I was surprised by a Greek girl who knew a number of Tagalog words and the Irish girl who was a big Lea Salonga fan, but I disappointed the Spanish by saying I couldn’t speak their language.

What struck me most is that many of the 270 young journalists from all over the continent are also on the move and that the European language is not just English, but all the languages of the member countries of the Union. Perhaps the diaspora is not exclusive to Indians, Chinese and Filipinos, and the knowledge of English is not always enough.

Meet Ridgy Vicars

I saw her surrounded by people who were listening to her story… Though quite a common sight for me, the stories of these individuals almost always struck me. Hookers raided and sent back to Manila or a Mom desperately rushed back home to see an ailling child or a maid maltreated and escaped with nothing but a prayer.

I am an OFW and whatever that means is to other people, I am sick and tired of being one. Although the pay is more than the usual in Manila, the price I pay for being away from my family for a period of time is a punishment. The only thing that keeps me going is my family.

And for other OFWs, it is crossing a very thin line between survival and death.

Her story here…

So you were creating a post for your blog. You have the main idea stuck on the back of your head. You start to type, placing down each word and idea one by one as dictated by your mind. You are almost sure that you’re going to finish it by bedtime when suddenly, your hands stopped typing. You try to move on but you can’t seem to get to the next paragraph. You bang your head on your computer monitor but it was only blood that keeps on gushing out (aray). You scream in frustration at your misfortune. Yes. Writer’s block has struck once again.

That Pesky Writer’s Block
Probably one reason why many people experience writers block is because they quickly run out of ideas. Sometimes we tend to encounter a gap in ideas, this gap makes it hard for us to connect the two edges of our ideas to have that smooth flow.

So how can we overcome this? There are a lot of ways, one thing that you can do is to look for an idea from other things aside from your mind.

New Comics YAY! #1

new comics yay! #1

When I was writing the last few posts of my Weekly Haul series over at Baddieverse, I felt that it was becoming too much work, and when blogging becomes work, it’s no longer fun. I like fun. Long story short, I decided to end it. But blogging about comics is way too addictive for me and I can’t stay away from writing about sequential art. Plus, putting up this new Face Rockery blog gave me my second wind, as far as blogging about comics is concerned. So here we are. BEHOLD! My new New Comics YAY! series where I talk about my latest comics haul! I’ll yak about my new comics and you’re going to enjoy it, bitches!

Here’s how we’ll do this: For each of my new comics, I’ll give you reasons why it rocks. The more reasons I give, the more awesome the comic is. Fewer reasons mean the comic is just so-so or it’s terribly swimming in the sucktitude pool. Savvy? Good. Let’s rock!

Why my new comics rock
