Phone prostitutes?
S.O.P Life has become convenient since the invasion of cell phones. As I’ve observed, most of the young people these days can’t end up a day without sending messages to there kakosa, kaklase, kabarkada, katong-its or kamahjong. The technology has been incorporated in Pinoy’s culture.
Today, cell phones manufacturers keep on upgrading. Cellular technolog breakthroughs upgrades it on the next level every now and then. In the Philippines, 3G phones take frontline displays in the market and Japan’s on 4G already and now we got Apple’s iphone.
Immense developments come fast in this generation. But as things keep on changing and improving, people keep on abusing it.
I’m sure you are familiar with SOP right now. I’m not talking about Standard Operating Procedure here or GMA7’s entertainment show on Sunday’s noon. Today, SOP is SEX ON PHONE.
HP5: If Your Comments Were These
Egotism first. Wooooooooot! OMG! I have seen the fifth Harry Potter movie at last! And I think, it’s the best since Chamber of Secrets. Honest.
Woke up late this morning, argh! My sistah didn’t put the alarm clock in the alarm mode. I was planning to be in SM grounds round 8am but then I arrived there 10:30 already. I was in a cram, I didn’t have breakfast. Good thing, the first showtime was 11:45. Went in the queue, unfortunately, wasn’t the first. Cinema 2 was available first.
DAMN! I was about to buy two tickets. Sistah gave me her money last night so I could buy for her and reserve her a seat in the afternoon. Buying two tickets, you get a free HP5 notepad. Argh! I was already near the cashier when I discovered I left my wallet. OF ALL THE THINGS? But then I got my sister’s money. Nyahaha. Sent a text message to her that she got to buy her ticket on her own.
I WAS THERE INSIDE THE THEATER AT LAST. Gee, I was anxious enough to have gone to the restrooms twice before the main feature. I was too excited.
SHIT! OMG! DAMN! SHE’S AMAZING! BRILLIANT! COOL! WHOA! OH NO! WHAT THE? IS THAT IT? DAMN HER! KILIG! AS IN?! DUH?! THIS IS IT! ARGH! SOMETHING’S MISSING! OHLALA! CORRECT! VERY GOOD! APPLAUSE!
Whew. I was alone, I dunno who were my seatmates were. But yeah, I was too noisy in the theater. Couldn’t help myself. I SO MUCH LOVED THE MOVIE!
Agila o Balot?
Ano na lang an mangyayari sa Camarines Sur kun dai naiproklama si Mayor Robredo?
Mas mauswag daw an Naga sa pamayo kan pamangkin kang agila? Tibaad?
Mala ta mayo man bagang nagkagirinibo kan iproklama si Mayor. Sabi daa Agila? Baka man balot.
Pinoy SiCKO
If you can find time, please do watch the latest documentary of Michael Moore titled SiCKO. Some of you watched his 911 Fahrenheit and somehow felt that Moore has a political agenda against the republicans, but this time it’s not polarizing. Healthcare issues transcends political parties. If you don’t have health insurance in the US, you’re a dead man walking. Even 911 heroes find it hard to avail of the health services the US government should provide. Some 911 volunteers, who suffered from respiratory diseases after the incident, were denied because they are not on the governments payroll. A $120 inhaler in US costs only 5 cents in Cuba. That is very insulting for a 911 female volunteer who lost her fortune buying these costly medicine only to find out that it is sold in Cuba at a very low price. The movie depicted how better socialized healthcare is as shown by Moore’s travel to France, UK, Canada and Cuba. We were lead to believe that US takes care of its people more than those countries mentioned.
Where’s my husband?
In our almost 2 years of marriage, my husband and I have never been out of touch with one another. Even when he went abroad for a month, he had to get himself a blackberry just so we could stay in touch 24×7.
When his company sent him to an overnight seminar, we still managed to stay in touch. But that should be normal for two people who love each other and are married to each other.
What is not normal is not hearing from each other for an extended period of time especially when you are not sure where the other is at.
A few days ago, I dropped off my husband at Glorietta 3. He was attending an event that was being held for gamers like himself (please don’t ask me for details as I am clueless about all that gaming stuff). He had mentioned that he was low on battery already but that it was ok since he was only staying until 10 or 11pm. I didn’t mind. I planned to wait up for him anyway as he says he was just going to take a cab home.
Choco Mallows
I know, I know… It’s been a while since our last post. Both my husband and I have been busy and have not had the chance to go out and try what’s new around the metro.
So let me just share with you my junk food binge for the past couple of days.
I must say that I have discovered something new. Well not exactly new, rather an old favorite packaged a little differently.
Remember those chocolate mallows sold in yellow boxes? Well I love those yummy chocolate candies. I always felt that the number of candies in those boxes were insufficient that I end up buying several boxes at the grocery just to satisfy my craving.
Die Hard 4.0
Fantastic Action Fiction.
I couldn’t recall all the Die Hard movies I watched in the past. But I did remember enjoying all of them. Die Hard 4.0 is quite relevant to our times. Computers and government programs were hacked by young programmers. The young programmers thought that they were being requested to check a security program of its vulnerability. It turned out that they were used to hack security programs to control the traffic and utilities system of the whole nation.
Imagine if our lives were fully dependent on government systems and one person who was an expert in military security programming could manipulate it. Our funds would be zero! Bye bye lights! Bye bye water! Bye bye money! Amazing!
The funny part was despite the many times John Maclaine fell into the ground from being hit by bullets and kicked by the woman who was an expert in karate, he managed to walk and carry himself till the end!
That’s why I say it was a fiction. No one could survive his fall without being knocked unconscious. All in all, the movie was a great one to watch! Don’t miss it!
How Philippine localities stack up in education
Crossposted from my weblog.
WANT to have an idea how the various cities and provinces in the Philippines stack up in terms of academic performance?
The image to the right summarizes the results of the National Career Assessment Examination (NCEA), which the Department of Education administered to graduating high school students in December 2006, both from public and private schools. The results were released last May.
Some quick observations:
1. Urban areas generally fared better than rural areas, as city schools divisions outshone their provincial counterparts. Access to bigger local resources, like the Special Education Fund (SEF) tax money, is probably one of the factors here.
2. Being a city helps, but it doesn’t guarantee high performance. For instance, only Makati and Marikina among the NCR cities barged into the top 15, showing that academic performance is not all about the money.
3. Provincial divisions can do well. Exhibit “A” would be the Samar-Leyte provinces: they are not resource rich but they have done very well, taking four of the top 10 and six of the top 15.
4. Our little effort to improve education in Naga City acquited itself well, I think. The city placed ranked 8th among 103 city schools divisions, and 14th among 188 city and provincial schools divisions. By comparison, the next best city schools division in the Bicol came at 40th.
Feel free to share your own conclusions from the data.
Heads will roll (literally)
After the tedious unsuccessful efforts of the marines in finding kidnapped Italian priest Giancarlo Bossi, the rain began to pour, and so did bullets between the marines and presumably the AbuSayyaf. Read the full story here, msnbc story
14 soldiers were killed amongst them 10 were beheaded. It just breaks my heart realising that people could be so cruel to beheaded another human being. Can’t find any reason for any person to stomach and engage to such heinous act. Is it religious?Cultural? Whatever the reasons are, it’s definitely a slap on the face not only for the Philippine government but to the whole nation as well. Whoever funds and supports this group should think twice and trace back the roots on what they are fighting for. There’s just no excuse in being so barbaric and inhumane.
My condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this incident. Free Fr. Giancarlo Bossi! Now!
