Missing my Blog anniversary

Do you know that I have been blogging for two years now? I missed my anniversary as I confirmed from my old personal blog that my first ever post was created on May 30, 2005. Technically it was way back September 2004 but that doesnt count as I used to just post excerpts of songs or quotes that I loved. My then blog was entitled “Listen to me”. Appropriate right?

I must say that I was destined to become a blogger. As far back as I can remember I have been writing about my personal thoughts and experiences. I guess its my mom’s fault as she was the one who gave me my first diary. You know – the kind which has a lock to keep all your secrets safe. I accumulated these paper journals such that when I graduated from high school, I had a big boxful that unfortunately just had to be thrown away. These included my poems and short stories that I wrote. Come to think of it, I wish I didnt throw them away. I could have had record of those original writings. Oh well.

Emerging. Influential.

Joining Ms. Janette Toral’s writing project, The Top Ten Emerging Influential Blogs in 2007, made me think what these words really mean. Which blogs could these be? I tried to build a somehow complex criteria but it just made my head hurt. Blog hopping for hours trying to find a site which fits “influential” perfectly zaps the energy out of me, let alone add more criteria names to my “to-Google” list.

So, to make life simpler, I’ve nominated blogs which have influenced and inspired me in some way, and have sketched new ideas to my skull.

Now watch my video entry and tell me what you think.

The All-Electric Mini Cooper: Too Expensive

Compared to the Tesla Roadster, this all-electric Mini Cooper, isn’t much. Sure, like the Tesla it recharges ala cellphone. It also uses a regenerative braking that put power back to the lithium-powered battery and also goes from 0-60 in a few seconds.

Silkenhut’s blog purpose

One week and three days has passed (filler paragraph)…

Time flies so fast! I can’t believe that it has already been a week since my blog has been online. For the past week I have been busy tweaking the blog technically that it affected my posts. As you can see in my archives, most of my posts are technical in nature. These are actually my experiences in trying to make this blog look good, optimized and have lots of features. Let us move on to the main purpose of this post.

What is the blog’s purpose?

Ever since I started this blog, I have been asked by people on what will I be focusing on? Now that I think about it, what should I be focusing on? People might conclude that this blog will be about technical stuffs since most of the articles are about technical stuffs. However, I don’t think that is the case. I was thinking that this blog will be focusing on my experiences in the blogging world.

Dancing Prisoners: An Only in the Philippines Item?

1,500 plus CPDRC inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Cebu, Philippines are not the normal inmates we could think of in our Tagalog Movies like inmates who usually fight with each other to death etc. CPDRC inmates are doing something that is more constructive: Dancing. Their dancing skills are not just limited behind prison walls because they are making a scene in the World Wide Web. Their dancing even makes these inmates a ‘hot’ item in Technorati these days! See it to believe it! Here’s they popular dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”:

Other songs which Filipinos would find familiar to listen to and danced  by CPDRC inmates are found in my blog..hehe :)

Selinog

One of the perks of being in development work is the chance to move around the country. For the past 8 years, I have been going in and out of Mindanao, particularly Davao, Zamboanga Peninsula, CDO, etc. I only regret now that I have not blogged earlier. The good thing, however, was that I was able to document my travels through photos, which allowed me to share my travels to family and friends. Some of them are stored in my Flickr account, and this includes the pristine and beatiful Selinog Island, off the coast of Dapitan.
