Moving on

moving-on.jpg

This morning, I was so enticed by one blogger who has moved his blogs to WordPress that I tried it myself and had the process figured out. It was just awesome to see how the entire blog being transferred from one site to another. Really neat! We owe it to technology and to the internet savvy guys who work hard (and get highly paid!) for this marvel in communication.

I can blame it to my indolence in learning another blogging process, but perhaps, WordPress is just too “techie” for me, unlike Blogger.com, where blogging becomes uncomplicated and trouble-free. It is like voting for Nokia or Sony Ericsson. And I choose Nokia because Sony Ericsson, just like WordPress, is not user-friendly (and I mean it!). WordPress users reading this must be brewing with anger by now. Don’t push your button yet. This is not going to be a technical debate on which blogging technology is better.

Charles’ Reviews: Harry Potter 5

One of the most awaited movie this year has finally been released in the Philippines.

The 5th installment of Harry Potter’s Saga, comes to a near climax when Harry and his friends, Ron and Hermoine, finally meet their arch enemy, Lord Voldemort.

The movie is based from J.K. Rowling’s best seller novel, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I would say, this is one of the best Harry Potter movie — visually effective, and the sounds are great.

But, as with the other movie versions of the first four books, there are many parts that was edited, replaced or minimize. Here are some of the points that was edited:

1. The twin Weasley’s escape from school

2. The different levels at the Department of Mysteries

3. The battle of Dumbledore and Voldemort at the Ministry of Magic

4. The scene of Dumbledore escaping from Crouch in the Headmaster’s office

Charles’ Reviews: The Simpsons Movie

Ok. I think, I have already build up the fact that I am a Cinemaniac, I can watch 5 movies straight in a day. But I haven’t stated the fact that I am a Simpsons fan too. So, that’s it.

I have really worked out my schedule for me to watch this movie. Since the trailer was shown, I have made up my mind that I will definitely see this movie – - and I have, with some of my good students.

Anyway, in a question of ethics, I don’t care. I have forgotten my stature as their teacher while watching this movie, since I have laughed out (very very) loud. Nagulat nga sila eh.. Hehehe.. But they haven’t seen the best (and worst) laugh from me.

Anyway, the much anticipated Simpsons Movie brought surprises and disappointments with some viewers. After 400 episodes, you think that there won’t be enough storyline that can cover a full-length movie. In the course of this 125-minute movie, you would definitely feel the difference between an ordinary episode from this one.

From the introduction – the lost of the usual couch scene, and the psychology of the chalkboard joke, and the Green Day concert – to the unfolding of the plot, and the big D’ohs of Homer, and Bart’s frontal nudity, the momentum isn’t sustained. There are some points where you would really laugh out loud, and some points to get (small) yawns.

The plot, although, is time. Its about the environment. The topic that would really excite Lisa Simpson, and would definitely bore Homer and Bart. Some elements in this movie, you can see it in the regular Simpson episode.

Overall, the movie is good. This one, you can say, is an ordinary Simpson episode, stretched enough to make a 125-minute event. That it’s a movie that didn’t have to be made and that movies of TV shows rarely turn out great anyway. Lastly, since Homer (speaking to the audience) laid it all down nicely for everyone at the opening scene, no one has the right to bitch about anything.

Ratatouille: Wisdom on the Menu

Ratatouille is Disney’s latest animated flick. Don’t dismiss it as just another example of perfect animation by Pixar. It dishes out wisdom with the speed of a fast food restaurant but with all the trimmings associated with fine dining. And in buffet style too. Take as much wisdom as you please.

What’s on the menu?
Anyone can cook. Gusteau’s motto is the overall theme of the movie. He encourages Remy and other chefs in training or by profession to take the bold leap and chase after that dream. His dictum is applicable to anything that we set out to accomplish. We just have to keep working at it.

Becky Aguila, Hindi raw Mukhang Pera

ETSOS!

Isang malaking GOOD LUCK, Mare!)
