The CSC Centennial Forest

The month of June was declared as an environment awareness month. On June 29 there will a nationwide tree planting activity.  I hope, however, that the trees that will be planted shall be taken care of like those at CSC CENTENNIAL FOREST.

Pinoy Big Bother

Nope, that’s not misspelled.

Eversince PBB got introduced into the country, everyone’s been ballistic over it. And I still don’t know why people are going ga-ga over a “reality show” about people who aren’t completely true about themselves on t.v. At least for some, that is.

To be fair, PBB1 was the best. They had the right mix of people there and I must admit, even if I didn’t watch the complete season, I got attached to their wacky and really funny group…minus Sam Milby. And speaking of Sam, I still don’t get the point of him being a crush ng bayan. For one thing, his smile is freaky (to me at least) and he cannot act. And who signed him up anyway? He’s incapable of singing! And before I forget, his Tagalog sucks. He shouldn’t have been set free on Pinoy T.V. if he’ll be speaking in a twisted Tagalog/English accent.

But anyway, I’m not out to sabotage Sam Milby’s “career”.

On PBB’s current season, I heard disturbing things about a certain housemate named Wendy. Since I didn’t have the chance to see any complete episodes of PBB2, stories from my friends served as my insight on the show. But sure enough, even newspapers covered PBB2 and it’s misgivings.

At one point, I actually planned to watch a complete episode of PBB2 but I got turned off because the people inside Kuya’s house got me bored. Everyone looked cute and showbiz-material ready, but none of PBB1’s weird and somehow ordinary people were in this batch. It’s like ABS-CBN gathered the housemates from the same pool and resulted in a not so beautiful outcome: all of them weren’t exciting enough to watch. Plus, since these contestants have already watched the previous PBBs, they had the idea of how to play safe on camera. They were conscious of their moves and I think they acted the way they did for some other reason apart from being themselves on t.v. Whether these are true or not, I didn’t like this bunch. To put it simply in terms of Biology, they lacked diversity.

Whatever reasons they had for entering Kuya’s house, I think 60% of that was just to get attention and be discovered as the next Uma or Jayson or Sam. Forgive me for thinking that, PBB loyalists, but I wasn’t moved by their sincerity on t.v. at all. And to think the show’s tagline is Ang Teleserye ng Tunay na Buhay! And why the hell did they have to put on uniforms all the time? They looked stupid.

In the end, it didn’t matter to me who won and why and how the public views Wendy’s indiscretion and what changes Gee-ann have now. I’m just glad PBB2 is over. Thank goodness.

The Renovation of Metropolitan Theater

The Met_erisac

Now undergoing a major “facelift,” the “grand dame” of Manila’s theaters is on its way to being restored to its former glory.

The Art Deco building constructed in 1931 by Juan Arellano was badly damaged during wartime, and rebuilt in 1978 by former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

But the “Met,” as the “grand dame” of Manila’s theaters is fondly referred to, fell into decay a decade ago and closed down in 1996 following a long-running dispute between the Government Service Insurance System and the City of Manila over its ownership and management.

Autobots, Transform!

380×200-transformers.jpg

Saturday morning, my son and I hit the theatres early to catch the first screening of Transformers at SM Mall of Asia. I noticed the presence of young dads, young couples than kids. Perhaps it’s because the Transformers (cartoons) became popular in our generation :-D . Though my son enjoyed the movie, I enjoyed it more! We’re discussing about the possibility of a sequel since Starscream escaped and at least two “cube” created decepticon robots were unaccounted. Aside from effects that we enjoy, the movie is about friendship, sacrifice, commitment and bravery. Our fave character is “bumblebee”, and my son wished that our car  will  also be a Chev.

Repent! For My Car Is Dirty!

I went to the casting call for the second season of Heroes. Here’s how it went:

Panel: So why do you think you’re right for the show?
Me: I have powers.
Panel: Is that right? What’s your “ability”?
Me: I can control the weather.
Panel: Really?
Me: Well, more like influence the weather really.
Panel: Please elaborate.
Me: It always rains when I get my car washed.

Just a Little Friend Dilemma

I’m supposed to blog about a news article I read earlier about a potential cure for HIV that has been discovered but I changed my mind as soon as I flipped open my Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine book. I got reminded that the chapter on HIV is only about 50+ pages long. And since I’m not really in the mood for some academic stuff and lengthy posts, I dumped the idea. Maybe you could just go read the article for the meantime. And maybe I’ll post something about HIV next time. Or maybe in the near future. But surely not now.

Instead, I’ve decided to bore you with some teeny weeny little issue that has been on my mind lately.

Most of my friends are either married, engaged to be married, or in a relationship. So it’s already an accepted fact that, as months and years pass by, the circle of friends attending the Saturday tambay nights is getting smaller and smaller. Currently, I’m one of those who are single and not in a relationship so I’m a regular during these Saturday nights (Actually, I’m always a regular, even before when I was still in a relationship). And I don’t mind that there are less people every Saturday than it used to. I mean, it’s most possible that each one of us (or most of us) will be starting our own families in the near future and it wouldn’t be healthy if we maintain the tambay nights then. So, we are trying to enjoying it now while we still can. Never mind those who can’t come. They have valid reasons, anyway.

What I don’t like hearing is that some of my friends, who aren’t attending the tambay nights that often anymore, are complaining that their partners are hindering them from joining. The reason, according to them, is that they’re already engaged to be married and they ought to be getting used to spending less time with the barkada so they won’t be craving for that tambay time anymore when they got married. Of course, they’re willing to make adjustments. But to not see friends anymore? It’s rather unfair.

Tourism in Baguio

Continuation from this last post.

Of course, aside from our spiritual retreat in Baguio City, we traveled and visited the usual Baguio tourism and sceneries. We visited Mine’s View, Baguio Botanical Garden, The Mansion, Wagwagan, Pink Sisters Convent

One thing that my friends don’t know about me is that I am a Dog Lover. I don’t exactly have a dog in the house, but I fancy them really. I like all kinds, shapes and sizes of dog, of course, not those dogs with galis, e.g. Askals (Asong-Kalye).

Last time, I posted that we went to Baguio. We specifically visited Mine’s View.
