To Be Or Not To Be A Plant, That Is The Question

It may sound cheesy, but love was the latest topic of discussion between me and my friend, Allan, early today in Google Chat.

It’s kind of fun disturbing him while he’s busy coding. But, I guess he actually lets me nag him with senseless questions. He calls it multi-tasking. I call it corporate boredom.

Let me share with you the conversation we had today. I’ll have to edit out some of the details, of course. And I have to translate some in English for the benefit of our non-Filipino speaking readers.

Me: An ex-bf chatted with me in YM today. After not hearing from him for 10 months.

Allan: And?

Me: He’s asking for another chance.

Allan: What?! You aren’t going to, won’t you?

Me: How I just hope that this guy that I like court me so that I don’t have to be confused by this.

Allan: Hay, the life of non-plants is complicated. Tsk, tsk.

(Note: In our circle’s lingo, plant is a person whose love life is non-existent and is not interested in having one. As in No Boyfriend/Girlfriend Since Birth.)

Me: But that makes life worthwhile and exciting!

Allan: Really? (A sarcastic smile here.) You must be a masochist. Hehehe.

Random Things I Hate About China and How I Deal With Them

Bale connecting flight sya Manila to Narita, Japan then Narita to Shanghai(Pudong).

Original Post : http://adventuresofalionheart.blogspot.com/2007/08/aol-wika-2007-entry-maraming-wika.html

Tagged: 8 Random facts

I was tagged a few days ago by jrocas to reveal 8 random facts about me. It took me a while before jumping on the bandwagon because it has been a hectic week and I thought 8 was far too many for the 5 minutes that I had to spare off from my busy schedule.

This one is different though as before you can even start, you have to read the list of rules so you can abide by them.

1. Ok so one random fact about me is that I have a bad habit of biting my nails. I started this out when I was very young. I think I replaced sucking my thumb with this awful habit. This is the main reason I do not grow my nails such that I am unable to wear nail polish. For someone who is ultimately kikay… well that is just so sad.

A way forward for the Cyber Ed Project

Cross-posted from my weblog.

HOW can we make the controversial Cyber Education Project (CEP) of the Department of Education (DepEd) more attuned to Philippine realities on the ground? I already discussed opposing views on the CEP, its upsides and downsides, and the institutional requirements to make it work. Let me outline how we can move it forward.

Its core should focus on high school. The technology is best suited to high school students. At that level, having the country’s top scientists, mathematicians and educators as resource persons will make sense. And by doing so, it will dramatically bring down the cost, probably in the neighborhood of its original P5-billion price tag.

It should go hand in hand with the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP). If the DLP can work in a small peripheral school like the Jagna, Bohol-based Central Visayas Institute of the Bernido couple, it can work in most other rural high school outside the 1st and 2nd-class cities of the country. But the DepEd must reengineer its policies around the DLP.

It should be made optional for the elementary level. As it stands, the CEP is the wrong response to the wrong problem. This has two dimensions:

Saging Lang Ang May Puso Single

Whoever thought of doing this wonderful song/remix is truly amazing. The song was inspired from Mark Lapid’s movie, Apoy sa Dibdib ng Samar, which exudes utter stupidity and blunt disregard for the word entertainment. When Lapid’s infamous line started to circulate via text, my friends and I got engrossed with the idea of buying a (pirated) cd of his movie. I mean, c’mon, who wouldn’t want a copy of the biggest flop but funniest movie of the century?

This is the original clip from Lapid’s movie:
