Was Jaclyn Victor Robbed off Ikon Asean?

The issue about the “not-the-best singer in the Philippines” Vina Morales defeating the “best singer in Malaysia” Jaclyn Victor at the recently-concluded Ikon Asean competition continues to be discussed, almost violently, by fans of both singers.
Some Jac fans claimed that she was robbed of the title, while others say that she wasn’t at here element. Meanwhile, some Pinoys even criticized Vina as below par, that the likes of Regine Velasquez should have been in Ikon (Asia’s Songbird didn’t join). Others even joked that Jaclyn wouldn’t even win “Tanghalan ng Kampeon” (Championship Stage, our version of “Star Search” back in the day). We Pinoys never seem to run out of naysayers, ano?
And I don’t wanna even delve on the “ad hominems” on how we Pinoys are being “teased” by our Malaysian neighbors as their maids and prostitutes. That’s another story.
Here are the performance clips of the two singers and we shall analyze it one by one. Now don’t get me wrong, I adore Jac and I used to call Vina the lone female member of “The Maskulados.” That makes the analysis even.

They are both good. I just recently learned about jaclyn victor, and wow she is really good, esp on high notes and voice control. Every contest would always have a criteria, and maybe vina just scored more than jaclyn’s. In all fairness, I can see more EMOTION, more passion to vina’s rendition, but I give more score to Jac for technicality. Maybe the “technicality” criteria is not the priority, i dont know.
There’s nothing wrong with microphones on the forehead or wherever. You can still hear Jaclyn hit her notes well (sustain at that!). Imagine if she would have sang those high notes while the mic is close to her mouth, it would be hurting eardrums by then. She really knows her craft, she can sing incredibly high notes.
I guess i know what you meant when a singer pulls away his/her mic when singing a high note. Yes, some do to cover up their limitations, usually they sing just a single high note, hit but not sustain ( “nanundot lang ng nota”). I’ve seen them many times on tv. They are done usually by singers with limited vocal capacity or when they think they can not sustain the high note.
I’m just giving my opinion. Try watch again our very own Regine, kyla, Jonalyn, Nina, sarah, etc, when singing high notes at every end of a song, and you will see their fair, shaved armpits and their microphones even beyond their forehead.
SMILE!
Absolutely! She’s robbed off Big time!!! Looked like that one judge from the Philippines influenced the rest of the judges and to me that was why Vina Morales won, but honestly, Victor deserved a lot better than her if only I have to choose the best among the three. Otherwise it’s the competition of the worst singers between the Philippines, Vina having a not so good voice, Malaysia Victor who sings with the microphone right on by her forehead and Indonesia’s who sings like drunk. This competition is lame with only three countries involved and they call it Asean Ikon??? that doesn’t make sense at all, it’s not challenging better scrap it!
