Why Do We Overanalyze Things?

August 23, 2007

Algebra

When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered the ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300C.

The Russians used a pencil.

It just shows that people overanalyze almost everything — from the easy where to eat for lunch, to the trickier what a man thinks of a woman he’s looking at. The solution can be right there before their eyes, but they go through a more complicated process of solving things. Why spend billions of dollars for a pen when you can always use a pencil to write? Why spend hours just deciding where to eat when you can always go to the nearest and cheapest cafeteria or fast food joint? Why do people assume that men and women are from different planets just because they think differently?

    Expand. Hehehe
    Urban legend pala.

Parang yung bata na nagtanong sa mama, “Saan ka nanggaling?” Ang ibig sabihin lang naman nung bata kung sa office ba etc. Ipinaliwanag nung nanay ang reproduction sa bata.

    We over-analyzed the poll.

    As of now:

    Statistics
Members: 1059 (or less kasi hindi naman lahat ng ito bumuto, kasama sa bilang yung mga nagrejister na hindi bumuto, kung meron man, at bumuto nga pero hindi sa WIKA 2007 entries)
    Total Links: 232
    Published: 232
    Queued: 0
    Votes: 2612

dYu: “we will get the total number of users who voted for all the wika2007 entries. yes just those who voted for the wika2007 entries and that would be our denominator.”

There are only 3 entries with more than 105 votes (will get at least 10% in the poll X 50% = 5%), only 2 entries with more than 53 votes (at least 5% X 50% = 2.5%) etc. Meaning, even 50% ang sa poll, close at maliit lang ang makukuha dito. Kaya nasa judges ang huling halakhak.

hehehe, you are right Filipinayzd. It’s still on the judges’ hands. The poll votes are merely tie breaker points. At this point, it seems insignificant. ;)

that’s what we’ve been trying to say the whole time… di lang namin maayos na napapaliwanag because of the hullabaloos.. ahehehe… ngayon obvious na, na sa judges parin talaga nakasalalay ang mananalo.

The more new accounts/voters, mas mababa ang makukuha sa 50% ng mga entries. Malaki na ang 10%. Kaya sana maraming entries ang iboto natin hindi lang isa.

Got something to say?
