Wife Kidnappers, Bride Snatchers, & Mail-Order Wives
Lonely, single, and no wife? No problem, call your local kidnappers, and have them deliver a stranger at your doorstep – an anonymous woman who will serve as your sex slave, maid, and if need be, obligated to an indenture servitude for your burgeoning enterprise.
Annoying Malu Fernandez & equally annoyed Blogs
Yes, I agree that some bloggers including this Political Jaywalker went on ad hominem attack on La Diva Kolokay and even resorted to fat ass jokes. I apologize to my readers for this behavior but never will I apologize to the self-proclaimed “Diva”.
Unlike other bloggers who wants to “separate” themselves in an attempt to be “different” and feeling superior above everyone else this blogger maintains that it is not in his place to “judge” others for their reactions deemed violent by others especially Babes Romualdez publisher of People Asia Magazine. The type of reaction coming from the elite just like the fooliticians of her class not having a clue what accountability and responsibility means would readily point a finger at the victims themselves for their “violent” or even “mob” like reactions.
Say if you will, but this ad hominem attacks that we see heaped on the annoying thinking elite above “lowly” mortals insult on the OFWs has become personal especially when this very sector are subjected to unimaginable abuses and exploitation. Not only are a big portion of the sector abused and exploited in their place of employment they are also exploited in the Philippines as well and too add insult to injury by a relatively unknown representing the voice of the elite Malu Fernandez, what exactly do we expect? Do we expect people who sacrificed separation from their love ones, alone and lonely to feed their family for lack of opportunities back home due to mismanagement and corruption of the elites while subjected to dangerous and exploitative conditions to react differently when faced with insult from a braggart belonging to the few ruling minority elites? Do we expect people to react meekly when we see the situation of a Filipina OFW being Kept as Sex Slave or see this Modern Day Heroes or Commodities in Human Trafficking of Slaves?
Sino pa’ng magsasalita?
(Originally posted at Battik’s Workshop last Sept. 1, 2007)
Coelho’s definition of a writer
It’s the first of September – a totally wonderful day despite an irritatingly disappointing stage play I watched with Beryl titled Paglilitis.
I just finished reading Paulo Coelho’s book Like the Flowing River: Thoughts and Reflections, which is a compilation of his short stories written from 1998 to 2005. The collection didn’t stand out like Zhang Jie’s As Long as Nothing Happens Nothing Will, another book I read a month and a half ago. Still, I consider the handy paperback a good read for its inspirational value. Those who love Coelho should go buy this book.
My Lot
One of the newest household names today is MyLot. It is one of the fastest growing online communities. The best thing about MyLot is that it is a paid online discussion forum.
An online friend referred me to MyLot. I immediately joined. The thought of earning for posts that I make seemed irresistible. After all, I was already an active forumer in many forums.
My first few days at MyLot was great. I noticed that a lot of people were excited about earning money simply by doing what they love: posting on forums. There were also a lot of intelligent discussions going on. People seemed to be at their best behaviors giving lenghty and comprehensive comments about certain issues.
But Alas! That was before!
The MyLot of today is filled with greedy members who are only concerned of making money from their posts which are of poor quality. Whereas before you would see a lot of camaraderie forming and healthy exchanges of ideas, today much of MyLot is infested with one liner answers and spam.
It is a good thing that MyLot is not only an online paid forum. MyLot has evolved into a sort of a social networking site where people can add you to their friends list, edit your profile page, and upload pictures (although it’s not close to friendster). MyLot also has a customizable home page wherein you can add specific blocks such as the weather in your area, recent discussions in certain topics, and much more.
The latest addition to MyLot’s ever growing features is its blog section. The blog section is actually a collection of MyLot members’ blogs. I tried adding my blog to MyLot in the past (for added traffic) but it wasn’t accepted. What’s great about this feature is that all your blog posts automatically become a discussion in MyLot with a link to the full article. How’s that for added traffic?
SEO Philippines Forum
Some of you may recall that the SEO Philippines forum started as a mailing list with 600 members. It largely gained recognition from all the SEO contests it held in the past such as the Ituloy Angsulong. Upon reaching 600 members, the mailing list was transformed into a forum and is now known as the SEO Philippines forum. Today the SEO Philippines forum is the number one destination for much of the Philippines’ probloggers, webmasters, and those looking to make money online. Their members range from Filipinos based in the Philippines and abroad. The SEO Philippines forum has five categories namely: Search Engine Optimization (Questions about SEO/SEM best practices), Site Monetization (Ways and means for webmasters to earn money online), The Internet Marketing Landscape (Industry news and commentaries), & Marketplace (Post SEO jobs and Classified ads). As you can see, the SEO Philippines forum caters to all of your needs. Their topic is not only on SEO but also focuses on website development, blogging, making money online, and the like. READ MORE
7.5% my big, fat a$$
I did not want to spoil my blog by posting political entries, but this one is something that definitely must be addressed by an ordinary citizen if only for the sheer purpose of ranting and raving since I know for a fact that whatever I type in here will be moot and academic because the government decided it is wiser to be deaf and blind to the woes of the public they are supposed to be rendering service to.
The President recently reported an increase in the country’s GDP or Gross Domestic Product, saying it leaped by 7.5 %, thus claiming that the country is fast achieving economic stability and that her administration is successful in its economic programs.
Of course it was expected that along with such news comes people from all walks of life commenting on Mrs. Arroyo’s report. I even saw a coconut vendor being interviewed by ABS-CBN TV Patrol, he was asked to comment and all he said was he cannot say for sure if indeed the country’s economic conditions are improving for he still sells coconut juice along the streets of the metro, something that he has been doing since who knows when.
And then here comes Lakas-CMD Rep. Prospero Nograles of Davao City, allegedly Arroyo’s die-hard fan, este, staunch political ally, who, without batting an eyelash decided that the people simply likes to criticize the residents of Malacanang for they (the people) do not believe in economic figures.
My big, fat a$$.

Alex also speaks of his previous involvement to save threatened species and their habitats, as well as his realization of the difficulties and challenges to conservation and environmental work in the country.

Blogging is fast becoming a powerful tool in the Philippines that it now isn’t only about one’s personal life. Blogging has a huge potential, so much that people are taking it to the next level, and are effectively doing so.
Evidently, blogs can be used beyond what they’re made for. Blogging is not just about the basics anymore. It’s about life, love, skills, and passion.
And this September, we are proud to launch the first ever installment of the Bloggers’ Kapihan series. The forum, entitled “Blogging Beyond the Basics,” will be held at the Advanced Sciences and Technology Building AVR of Philippine Science High School on September 8, 2-5PM.
