Lessons in Time Management

Recent events led me to add this rejoinder to my previous post Time Management Prescription.

How you manage your time affects not only your life but others’ too. Below are ways to handle your own time so that others may maximize theirs too. These tips apply to those who share office space, equipment, etc with other people.

Blogging code of conduct

In the Philippines where blogging has caused widespread influence – think Malu Fernandez – in other countries the same cannot be said.

I read in inquirer.net how China government has managed to get Yahoo China and MSN China to sign a pact with them that pledged to “safeguard state and public interests”. The article said that the pact also encouraged these internet firms to register and keep the real names and addresses of these bloggers. So they could be monitored? Perhaps.

Boy Bastos: The 1st Filipino Problogger to be Arrested

Is this then a public relations stunt to boost Loren’s visibility?

Pinoy Money Talk website review

The Pinoy Money Talk has been online for quite some time already. In fact it is already an authority when it comes to making money online and offline. I don’t think that there is a tech savvy business minded Filipino who still hasn’t come across Pinoy Money Talk yet. I myself have been part of Pinoy Money Talk for a few months now (largely because of the fact that I joined HYIPS).

Anyway what’s great about Pinoy Money Talk is that it isn’t just a forum. It is in fact a blog with a forum in it. But I do believe that it should be prouder of its forum than its blog. What do i mean? Well, let’s just say that the forum has much more interesting content than the blog. Not that the blog contains rubbish posts though. I guess their blog is used only for announcing important topics.

UPDATE! The Thank You Post: I Won Free Domain and Hosting!

Although I’m awfully down these days because I practically went blind broke my eye glasses in half just in time for 2 exams and a major thesis presentation AND I’ve been turning into this solitary creature/hermit I don’t have a phone for five, straight days now, I know I still got a lot of things to be thankful for since I started vlogging about 5 months ago. I’m not going to bore you with a very long post; I’m just looking back at all the good stuff I’ve had before I end this season’s run of CokskiBlue tonight:

1. Winning FREE DOMAIN AND HOSTING at PinoyBlogosphere.com’s BratyFly B-Day Post! I just had to post a comment on what I feel about PinoyBlogosphere.com and added some suggestions for the site and I got the prize! JM Tuazon also won a surprise prize from the birthday girl herself. Thank you very much BratyFly! This gift just came on the best time possible. You really made my day.

Now, the first name I thought of was CokskiBlue.Net (now I’m more leaning towards .com) but I’m worried about name-recall and people always misspelling my vlog’s name to “COKSIblue”. Should I change it to HiGuysThisIsCoy.com? CoyCaballes.com? Any suggestions? Help me out. Please.

boybastos.com in peril

A fellow Pinoy webmaster is in deep trouble. Yes boybastos.com is in danger of being offline! Forever? Hmmm…I dunno..maybe. In a moved by Senator Loren Legarda, she urged the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) and the National Bureau of Investigation to shut down the site, which she called “the premier lewd / obscene portal of the Philippines.

More on the 7.5% growth…

Only four decades ago, Vietnam was ravaged by a savage American invasion and internecine civil war which saw the destruction of much of its economic infrastructure and the destitution of its people.

By now, however, Vietnam, one of the former French colonies of Indochina, is poised to overtake the Philippines – which was second only to Japan in the 50s. Just recently, the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment has forecasted a “growth rate of 8.4-8.5% by the end of the year.”

I am thus amused every time I remember Arroyo boasting of the country’s 7.5% growth in gross domestic product (GDP). Not only is it unexceptional when compared with the expansion rates of our neighbor’s economies (Vietnam and Singapore); its real worth was clouded by the Arroyo administration’s handling of the news of the 7.5% growth.

THE YANKS DESERVES IT!

As I was uploading the videos in You Tube concerning the aero dance exhibit of CSC officials and employees in commemoration of our 107th Anniversary this September, I reviewed blog entries posted at Pinoyblogosphere, where I used to blog. My attention was caught by the blog entry of basapa concerning the heroism displayed by two Americans, Mr. Troop Edmunds and Mr. Jerry Hawe, who rescued Lani from the alleged sex slave trafficker in Malaysia. Mr. Edmunds and Mr. Hawe, retired marine officer and FBI agent, respectively, are already in their 60’s. They traveled more than 6,000 miles away from home and conducted their own search and rescue mission and recovered Lani successfully.  I wonder what happened to other Pilipinas who were with Lani, the operator of this alleged sex slave syndicate or what the Malaysian Government is doing on the matter. I would like, however, to invite everybody to convey our sincere gratitude to Mr. Edmunds and Mr. Hawe. They deserve the admiration and respect not only of our OFWs, but the entire Pilipino nation. While my Great Grandfather may have been one the fierciest enemy of the Americans during the Pilipino-American War, the heroism displayed by Mr. Edmunds and Mr. Hawe deserves our respect and admiration in the same way that the Americans respected my Great Grandfather in the battlefield. On the brighter side, the prisoners in Cebu, that caught worldwide attention for their callistenics dance, was, once again, featured in CNN news. Government officials and employees regularly performs mass callestinics dance in their offices long before the “thiller” in Cebu prison camp caught worldwide attention. The difference: it was performed in a prison compound and was featured in You Tube. CSC mass aero dance exhibit is now featured in You Tube, but not in a prison compound.
