Breaking News: Senator Sues God

Human law is supreme. Nobody can escape it. Not even *drum roll* GOD! Behold! The power of the almighty state constitution of Nebraska!

From Wired:

foley is godNebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers (D – Omaha) filed suit against God Friday, asking a court to order the Almighty and his followers to stop making terrorist threats.

The suit (.pdf), filed in a Nebraska district court, contends that God, along with his followers of all persuasions, “has made and continues to make terroristic threats of grave harm to innumerable persons.” Those threats are credible given God’s history, Chambers’ complaint says.

Chambers, in a fit of alliteration, also accuses God of causing “fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects, and the like.”

As an aspiring mild-mannered reporter, I wanted to get the story from the defendant’s point-of-view. Unfortunately, God cannot be reached for comment (He never does listen to my prayers. Feh.), so I went to the next best source of divine information: Jesus Christ.

The immortality of your persona in the Internet

I got this in my email the other day, and it made me sad:

Marj is a friend from Canada (she migrated there around 1995) who I met over mIRC in 1998 and met in real-life around 2000. We lost touch after I started working in 2002. A month before my wedding in 2004, I asked a common friend for her number because she wasn’t answering my text messages in the one registered in my phone book.

That was when I got the shock of my life — our friend told me she had died of leukemia two months before.

Why Mestizas are In-demand in the Philippines

Last year, while eating at a restaurant, I heard a group of women talk about how teachers get low pays, while the Michael Jordans of the world received astronomical fees. It was a fairly homogenous group, with a lot of nodding, and cajoling, ending in a somewhat somber conclusion: a woman, who is in my view the leader of the group, suggested that the world would be a better place if teachers get the equivalent pay of Michael Jordans.

Avenue of desserts and pastries

The Concourse level(basement) of the Power Plant Mall Rockwell Center was transformed into an avenue of dessert and pastries. I’ve been there last Sunday and I’ll definitely go back there next weekend for more.

The goodies are practically saliva inducing. The The Sweet Life’s Marie Antoniette is simply divinine. I also took home a couple of minnie mousses, cupcakes with flavored coffee butter icing and almond and hazzelnut toppings, of Minnie Puno.

It’s never too late to head on down to the baker’dozen fair. Their next and last fair will be on September 28-30. Don’t miss it. See you there!

Is it too late?

Just the other day, online news sources reported that a new species of fruit bat was discovered from the lowland forests of Mt. Siburan in Sablayan, Mindoro Occidental. Similarly, not three months ago, a team of biologists went on an expedition to Mt. Mantalingahan in Southern Palawan where they discovered new species of animals and plants, including a shrew, a terrestrial orchid, and a parrot finch. Don’t you find it remarkable that there are still new species discoveries in this country even at this day and age?

Introduction to ClickAider – Tracks clicks including adsense

I searched around the web for a solution in detecting click fraud since my current stat trackers, Wordpress.com Stats, Firestats and AWStats don’t show where the user clicked. My search resulted in my discovery of the Webtool called ClickAider. This post will serve as an introduction to ClickAider and will be written just like a FAQ.

What is ClickAider?

ClickAider is an analysis tool that helps publishers maximize revenues from Pay-Per-Click Advertisements. (ClickAider Homepage)

Basically, ClickAider is a webtool that will help you keep track of the clicks on your website. It claims that it can even track clicks on ads such as Adsense and YPN.

Do you need this?

If you are just like me who recently got attacked through adsense clicking, then you do need this. You would like to know who is attacking you right? You need a tool such as this that will try to track all clicks made and provide you with the time and IP address of the click origin. Using these information, you can report it to Google to defend your claim that you are not clicking your own ads or made someone else do it.

The Top 50 Bloggers List – Where are the Pinoy bloggers?

In a world where a blogger’s social status is determined by the number of visitors, readers, and blog earnings, I am not so surprised to see that NXE’s Fifty Most Influential Bloggers had quickly become the talk of many blog posts throughout the whole blogosphere.

The said blog post features the top 50 bloggers along with descriptions on why and how they have influenced the blogosphere. I browsed through the whole list and found the list to be well thought out and researched (Though I dare say that I have a slight problem with the other spots, but it’s fine).

Some of my frequent reads have managed to get themselves into the list like Brian Clark of CopyBlogger, Jeremy Schoemaker of ShoeMoney, and Darren Rowse from Problogger.net. And thanks to the list, I have also found some great reads like Eli from BlueHatSEO, Guy Kawasaki of How to Change the World and Sven Lennartz with Vitaly Friedman from Smashing Magazine.

But after sifting through the whole list from Top 50 to the first spot, I can’t help but ask myself, “Where are the Pinoy Bloggers?

FG Mike Arroyo is the MYSTERY MAN

Why am I not surprised about the FG’s involvement in this one? And why am I not surprised that most of the people called upon by the Blue Ribbon Committee aren’t even appearing in court? PGMA’s EO 464 shouldn’t even be used as an excuse by these guys to back out on the inquiries. EO 464 isn’t even legal! Just imagine it, if the FG’s involvement in this case is verified, then the ZTE broadband scam would have been supported by PGMA herself! Because frankly, the FG isn’t capable of doing all this elaborate scam; he needs his beloved wife for help and support.

Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza, Trade Secretary Peter Favila and Romulo Neri, chairman of the Commission on Higher Education were the 3 cabinet members to be subpoenaed, along with the FG on Thursday. But seeing as the FG has already fled the country (his lawyers says his trip to Hong Kong has long been planned) and Ben Abalos is still thinking of attending the summons, how can the committee proceed without the key persons involved in this case? As I’ve said in an earlier post, our leaders lack delicadeza that’s why the government stinks with corruption and outright lies.

But wait, you know what, let’s not discuss what the Blue Ribbon has done yesterday on this case, not even about the FG’s supposed long planned trip to HK Monday night . Let’s talk about the dynamic husband and wife tandem of the Arroyos and their techniques to squander the people’s taxes.

1. They work hand in hand. FG is the muscle and PGMA is the brains.
2. Behind every man is a woman. So behind FG, there is PGMA. Aww, shocks, how sweet. They support each other through thick and thin.
3. Both are very social. See the vast network of cronies they have? Yes, from Abalos to Gonzales to even the military and police forces. That’s a large connection to work out their wishes.

Oh well. We’ll just have to see what Thursday holds for us all. I hope the Senate (Senator Cayetano especially) do their job. I think that they are, but a little more push and brawn won’t hurt.

Finding Purpose

Maybe having a son has been God’s way of giving me my purpose in life. I mean, I have been thinking and reminiscing.

When I was a fresh graduate, I never did have any dreams. I mean, yes, I wanted a good job. But what job? I did not actually know where I wanted to work. Although I wanted to be part of an advertising company, I thought I was not good enough so I did not venture into that field.

Basco’s Casa Napoli

pizza2.jpg

Anybody who is new to Batanes, a pizzeria is a rare find. One would not expect a fine pizza parlor that serves pizza (of course) with real mozzarella cheese. We are just lucky to know locals who are familiar and frequent Casa Napoli.
