Hopia Fix
For some time, during my summer vacations in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, I enjoyed eating hopia. I would usually buy from my aunt’s sari-sari store at P3.00 per pack. Those were the small hopia with red beans as filling. A summer day won’t be complete without a trip to the store to get a pack or two of hopiang munggo and a bottle of ice-cold POP cola. I would sometimes get the hopiang baboy, only if the red bean favorite is not available.
Whenever I’d drop by their store, my cousins, with an ever-annoying grin, would still tease me, “Hey! We know what you’re going to buy… hopia and POP cola! Correct?!” Like before, I would go back to our house, with no more appetite for lunch or dinner, as I just had my hopia fix.
But that was a few years ago. I’m now an OFW here in Singapore. It was only recently that I came to know about similar delicacies from neighboring Malaysia, Penang’s tau sar peah and Ipoh’s heong peah (Is it why we Filipinos call it hopia?). It was only here that I have seen hopia in an utterly different presentation, somewhat more sophisticated and with a slightly different name. They call it mooncake. It’s still hopia for me.
Science and Discovery Center at Mall Of Asia
SM Mall of Asia’s Science and Discovery Center will be open to the public on mid October, but a friend of mine invited me to have a look at the Philippines first after the Planetarium project of the late President Marcos at Rizal Park. Here are two of the pics:

Are you rooting for the eagle or the archer?
Much has been said about the Ateneo-La Salle basketball rivalry. It has even reached The New York Times. Krispy Kreme even issued a new doughnut to celebrate the rivalry.
I’m not rooting for either one. I’d rather have the plain amazing glaze doughnut. Technically, I should be rooting for the maroons. However, college basketball has never been my interest. Never saw a game while in college although I named a stuffed toy Benjie because the Maroons were very popular then.
Bloggers have revealed their colors. From their posts, we know now who’s blue and who’s green. Here’s a short list.
Displaying HTML Tags
Displaying HTML tags as texts in a web post such as this has been a challenge for me lately. Whenever I include HTML tags intended to be displayed as texts, the tags do not appear in my published posts. Although I know that I simply have to replace the close arrow bracket with this: & gt (without the space) and the open arrow bracket with this & lt (without the space), Blogger is still unable to display my HTML tags as texts.
If someone reading this knows the solution to my problem, please post a comment on this. You may also post a comment on this blogsite: Web Basics. Any helpful comments would be greatly appreciated.
My MyBlogLog Went Bonkers!
Right after merging my MyBlogLog account with my Yahoo account, my MyBlogLog ceased to work.
My avatar disappeared. I tried to upload the picture again and again, but failed. During each attempt, I was asked to crop the picture but even after cropping, it wouldn’t upload. Then I noticed that I couldn’t edit any of the fields of the profile page. Technically I could, but any changes I made were not saved.
Worst, even when I’m logged in, my name didn’t show up in the MyBlogLog widgets of the blogs I visited.
