Pinay Scandal… The Issue

Don’t you just hate it when you see men, old and young alike, ogling at those pirated CDs and DVDs scattered on sidewalks and malls?

I get a sense of weariness too when a new scandal hits the news because for sure, throngs of men will scour the web within the very next hour in hopes of being one of the firsts to see the video.

It is just disappointing to see how men jump at the next opportunity of getting copies of these materials without even consulting their morals and their conscience. I mean, come on, pinagpipiyestahan ninyo yung babae, yung kawawang babae whose only mistake probably was that she fell for a cheap idiot who happens to find thrill in videotaping his sex acts with women. Gross.

The Women of “Like Water for Chocolate”

I just want to post this because I’m quite proud of this paper when the rest of my classmates discussed about the romance in the novel. I had to retype this because I only have the original hard copy which I submitted to my professor. This post is slightly altered from the original paper to include my teacher’s comments and corrections. Unfortunately, I forgot her name but Ma’am MZM(S?or L?) thank you for your interest in my paper and for the grade. ;)

Bloggers’ Halloween Party, Anyone?

NO, this is NOT an invitation to an actual halloween party.  I’m just thinking out loud and making use of 15 spare minutes (I have to wait for the floor wax in the lib to dry — talaga nga naman, doon pa sa area kung nasaan ang books ko).  Back to the topic: won’t it be great if we had a party where we had to dress up as creeps? Wait a minute, aren’t bloggers somehow creeps?  Just kidding.  Tapos potluck nalang.  Somewhere.  In our house?  Nah.  Sa sunken garden?  Pwede rin.  Hahaha.

In short: wanted organizers.

Ehem, ehem, PBS admin! :)

I’d love to go.  Then after all the planning and preparation… I end up not going because my sister-in-law gives birth that night!

8th Motorshow Cebu International: Day 1

dsc_8966.jpgI have been stationed in the media center and lounge of the 8th Motorshow Cebu International in the Cebu International Convention Center’s (CICC) room 101 since yesterday.

I will be here daily until the end of the event on Sunday, probably with nothing much to do since most reporters would expectedly be here during the opening only.

Reading Camus

I am neither a car enthusiast nor a follower of trends in the auto industry.

So instead of periodically looking at the exhibits, I’m reading Albert Camus’ The Stranger during intervals. I’m now in the part where the protagonist Meursault has gone back to work after attending his mother’s burial.

But still, quite a lot of the things displayed in the exhibits are interesting even for a non-enthusiast like me.

Radiohead – In Rainbows Review

Few bands reach that avant-garde status, where a triumvirate of fame, musical prowess and fortune is achieved and sustained, all the while staying together. Rarer still is it solely acclaimed through musical intrepidity. Unlike their fellow contemporary luminaries, U2 or Madonna or Rolling Stones, Radiohead claim to this vaunted stature is not refinement of a staid musical formula nor through targeting demographic acumen nor through sheer tenacity. Radiohead is an Aurora Borealis in the music industry. Ethereal and unprecedented. Characterized by the haunting voice of Thom Yorke, the paranoid music, the melding of organic music composition and the usefulness of technology and the economic use of weapons in their musical arsenal. The group makes music like no other. Beautiful and enriching abominations.

Jack Bauer Lite

240.jpg

Hi. My name is Gino, code name: Jack Baddier. I’m here in my room, waiting for the Sandman to put me to sleep. By the way, I’m not talking about the mythical creature. Sandman is the codename of one of my fellow agents in a top secret government organization. He’s going to inject me with a serum that will induce sleep. After weeks of not getting enough rest, I can finally lay down on my bed and sleep fo… what the fuck?! Now why the hell is that dog barking?! Dammit. But before I find that out, I need to know first which of our half dozen stupid dogs is barking.
