The First Quote of The Day

Today is an important day for a reason I would rather keep to myself.

Mezze! dining experience

Let me just start off with saying that I am not a fan of mediterranean cuisine.

Food that are classified to belong to this group would be those native to the countries that surround the mediterranean sea. Think Egypt, Greece, Italy, Spain, Morocco and imagine all the exotic flavors that you could succumb your taste buds to.

Now you’re confused because I profess to love Italian cuisine. And I do, absolutely! And that is why I frequent Italian restaurants as much as I can. But eating at a restaurant that serves mediterranean fare is very different. I do not know why but mostly I feel these places focus on specializing in Greek and even Turkish dishes. The few times I went to such places, I became fairly disappointed with the Italian dishes that they served.

Daily lesson planning, anyone?

Cross-posted from my weblog.

OCTOBER is the month when public school students go into a week-long break ending the first semester of the school year. The break also allows their teachers to attend training arranged by their respective division or district offices.

I was reminded of this after my wife, who teaches geometry at Camarines Sur National High School, was extra-busy last week — as Math club president, she had to oversee their departmental in-service training and aside from that prepare something to share to fellow math teachers.

There was something in one of our conversations last week that grabbed my attention, and I took mental note of it. It had something to do with a sharing by a fellow teacher on the new Cyber Education Project (CEP)-compliant lesson plan format, for which a week-long training was recently arranged by the DepEd.

e-flowers for Glorietta victims’ families

batanesc-035.JPG

Waiting for a few hours, and when no one heeded my call to show sympathy to the bereaved, I asked 3 of my Flickr groups (Semana Santa Filipinas, Pinoycentric, and Pinoy Kodakero) to post their flower photos as a sign of sympathy to the bereaved. I was surprised with the response. I believe these people are very busy, yet they found the time to post something for the Glorietta victims’ families. Many have already responded, and I hope there would be more in the coming hours/days. I never thought it is possible. We usually/ normally send real flowers. But this time, we realize e-flowers will make it possible!

My Disneyland Pics, Let Me Show U It

I wasn’t planning to but we were already in Hong Kong so what the hell I told myself. If you are planning to go and you haven’t been to Hong Kong Disneyland yet and you want to ask on how much the tickets are and stuff (tickets cost HK$295 for “ordinary” days), drop me an email and I’ll be willing to help in the directions in as much as I can.
Should I go back, I will make sure of the following to really make the experience worth my trip:

  1. Get a map BEFORE you tour the place
  2. Have a spare camera battery or have two cams with you because just one is never enough
  3. Be ready to point and shoot at all times
  4. Take note of all the air times of all the different shows
  5. Watch them all
  6. Ride in all the rides
  7. Loosen up and let the kid in you take charge
  8. Amusement parks can only be fun if you’re with people you enjoy hanging out with
  9. Pluto is the most fun of all the Disney characters to take pictures with so I molest the dog again (most important of all)

Here they are. I present you what little photos I have of my Disneyland experience.

Sneak Peek: Everything Thailand

“Akala ninyo bakasyon na kayo?”

I thought my brain just melted when I heard my thesis adviser told me this. After one hellish and toxic semester, it’s quite depressing to know that it may never end. Still got tons of requirements due next week and it’s almost November. Goodness.

Now you know why my “season break” is taking longer than what was originally planned. And it’s been exactly a month already since my last update. Gah. I missss this blog, I miss making videos. And I’m here to tell everyone (uh, anyone there?) that I’m still alive and plans for my next batch of vlogs are now in the works.

Oh, right. I twitted a couple of weeks ago that my Dad went to a business trip in Thailand. I might do a vlog on this with a special guest vlogger (guess who). And now, let me just show you a little preview – a sneak peek to Thailand’s culture and performing arts:

Bombing not a diversion

It’s now two days after the ruthless bombing of Glorietta mall last Friday which killed 11 and hurt more than a hundred others. Still, the investigations have brought up nothing conclusive despite a terror group’s claiming responsibility for the atrocity.

But already, not a few people have expressed the opinion that the bombing was perpetrated by the Palace to divert the public’s attention from the controversies hounding it – particularly the NBN scandal, impeachment, and the bribing of congressmen and governors.

Some members of the political opposition, particularly Senator Trillanes, have also issued statements consciously spreading this line.

I do not agree with this assertion.
