Earn Money Through Facebook

Uhm okay, this is quite unusual for us to post, but yeah, you read that right! You can earn money through Facebook. We’ll tell you how. There are many pay-per-click thingamajigs out there and we don’t are not experts on this subject, but hey, why not give it a try.

It doesn’t really give you that much, but since you’re on Facebook, why not just take a little time (roughly 10 minutes) away from all your Warbooks, Human Pets, Scrabulous, etc., and use it to earn a little extra cash? Right?

The letter of Carlo Cruz – Glorietta Blast Victim

I was on my way to the office earlier today when the radio station mentioned a guy named Carlo Cruz and his letter that has circulated around the world. He wrote his letter at first with the intention of informing his employers that a disaster has struck his life and he wishes to take a bereavement leave.

Carlo Cruz is the husband of one of the eleven people who perished in the Glorietta 2 blast last October 2007. His wife, Leslie Cruz, died on the place where they were supposed to meet. When I heard about him earlier, he was even on the radio station for he read his letter on the air, I felt pity but at the same time, I look up to his faith and strength to live on and be a single parent to his daughter, Amber.

I Beg Yur Pardon?

Nothing is usual in the Philippines these days

The entry’s title is taken from Time Magazine’s latest coverage of the country titled Crisis Again – for the Philippines’ Arroyo. And indeed, what can be more unusual than the news that filled the front page of the country’s leading paper yesterday?

I’m talking about the defiling of a mural made by the Neo-Angono Artists Collective as commissioned by the National Press Club. That the NPC made changes with the painting without consulting the artists is an affront to the rights of authors/artists. That the NPC, supposedly an organization of media people and journalists who resorted to this violation is clearly ironic and not the least unusual.

Here are samples of the said alterations:

The tale of two spinsters

WHEN WE WERE YOUNG, my late father would always warn us not to get inside the big compound owned by the two spinsters, which occupies at least one-thirds of the entire block. Since the owner of the compound is a distant relative, and being young and innocent, we did not see anything wrong wandering and playing hide and seek inside. He would irrationally scold us whenever he saw me playing with my cousins and my nephews and nieces my age inside the compound. The compound was like a mini forest, planted with bamboo groves, fruit trees, bananas, bushes and tall grass. It was enough reason for a scolding because there might be snakes especially near the bamboo groves.

However, I could vividly recall that I could only freely roam if my father were with us during some gatherings and every time he would be asked to butcher pigs and other livestock. Aside from extracting tooth, he had the talent of hitting the jugular vein that allows faster and seemingly painless death of animals–without the long shrieking and crying sound. He also had the sharpest bolos and knives, thus the invitations for him to help relatives during birthdays, weddings, fiestas, and in every handaan.

One of our neighbors abhorred the two spinsters. She had a psychotic son and daughter. However, she was in denial that she attributed the mental illness to the spinsters, spreading gossips and openly uttering invectives redounding to the conclusion that they are evil and that they are witches playing with their lives.

Malling republic

Why are malls surviving in a poor country like the Philippines? Why do Filipinos flock to malls despite the rising cost of living? Can somebody please check the indicators? We may be a rich country pretending to be poor.

Confession: I’m happy for Erap

Erap has long polarized Philippine politics and society. A month after the deposed president was convicted of plunder, Filipinos were surprised by the sudden announcement of president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s granting of executive clemency. The pardon divided us anew. On one hand, people praised this gesture towards reconciliation. On the other hand, others found this a mockery of the judicial system. A majority of people within my social circle loathed the recent executive clemency. On a social level, I felt disappointed with our president. But on a personal level, I strangely felt happy for the newly-pardoned convicted plunderer.I have never been pro-Erap. The Eraptions made me laugh. I approached his presidency with distrust. I was among the crowd that rallied in front of EDSA Shrine shouting, “ERAP resign!” at the height of his impeachment trial.

I have come to know Erap only as a public figure, a mere icon and object of criticism. Yet after EDSA 2, I got to know one of his close relatives. Because of this, I have gotten a glimpse of Erap as a human being.

Which One Will Not Cause Your PR To Devalue?

Appropriate time has been spent given to debunk the wisdom of the “no follow” attribute. And a lot has suggested the dofollow plugin to deactivate this.  But is this the cause of the PR devaluation recently?

Another plugin came as alternative, LinkLove,  is this better than DoFollow?

Sonnie’s Porch needs your opinion as I am torn between using the DoFollow or LinkLove plugin.
