Knowledge vs. Wisdom

Knowledge vs. Wisdom

Knowledge Management has been the latest fad being adopted by Senior Managers now a day. But we should take note that not all fads are quite effective since there are a lot of things needed to be considered in choosing to adopt a certain fad and Knowledge Management is one fad that made waves in the new economy i.e. BPO Industry. Especially from BPO Industry that they wanted to know what there sub-offices are doing that is why they resulted to integrating all the systems with the use of sophisticated infrastructures.

Adopting knowledge management in the work place should start first on a shared vocabulary idea. One should understand basically what is knowledge and how to acquire it. Actually, knowledge can be and even can be bought. Of course when you avail of trainings and seminars then you acquire such knowledge. But the problem is execution. Execution has been the most common pitfalls by some organizations. They tend to plan superbly but lack the execution part of which this is the most vital part. Execution and implementation should go hand in hand together with some metrics that would ascertain results. Read more..

Capitalize on Merger’s

Capitalize on Merger’s

“In business or economics a merger is a combination of two companies into one larger company. Such actions are commonly voluntary and involve stock swap or cash payment to the target. Stock swap is often used as it allows the shareholders of the two companies to share the risk involved in the deal. A merger can resemble a takeover but result in a new company name (often combining the names of the original companies) and in new branding; in some cases, terming the combination a “merger” rather than an acquisition is done purely for political or marketing reasons.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merger

So how can a recruiter capitalize on mergers?
Certainly, most mergers does not end up the way it used to be. Some circumstances such us clash of cultures would likely occur due to the fact that involve praties are coming from different angles of the market though a thorough assesment has been done that such integration would succeed. Such move by the management is crucial that if not well undertaken or carefully planned, a possibility of chaos would occur wherein acquired employees would tend to question of their necessary existence with the company. EFFECTS OF RETRENCHMENT

A close friend of mine after finishing her undergrad course gave this article to me. This has been a product of her careful research at my previous company before. Moreover, this has been circulated long time ago to various hr forums and has been archived at my old blog platform. So I retrieved it and housed it at my present website i.e. http://www.careerclub.com.ph since this is very relevant to my present undertaking as a rookie blogger on related matters.

EFFECTS OF RETRENCHMENT
Elena R. Maramba

Having retrenchment as a main alternative for the company to save itsfinancial instability, is never that advantageous for the employees.Although some of them might be grateful for after having been retrenched by the company, they were able to find a much better and a more stable job, which they didn’t a bit consider when they were still working in thecompany. But then again, not all people are as fortunate as them. A lotof employees are obviously working so as to give their family at least adescent life to live, not even a luxurious one. And being one of those who were terminated is never easy for them and to the people who are dependingfrom them, especially that looking for a new job is never easy, knowing how rampant unemployment is in our country. The sad thing with this is that people who lost their jobs, would now be inclined to go abroad in order to sustain the needs of their families. This could lead to having their lives at stake just for the purpose of having money. And somehow, this shouldn’t have been the fate of many Filipino employees. However, having retrenchment could save the company. They could lessen their financial expenses and in this way they could better budget their money and put them in areas which could be of great improvement for the company. Their expenses will be minimized knowing that they would haveto pay a lesser number of employees who could still manage to do the sameamount of job if there were many employees hired. Although this would mean, making the employees do more jobs than usual, but could be helpful since if many employees are also working, there is a tendency that they would work with less effort knowing that there are plenty of them.Somehow, retrenchment had also helped the company to avoid duplication of duties which has helped the employees since it’s through this that they were able to maximize their knowledge and skills over the job they are working. This could be a driving force for the employees to do better in their job, which could help the company to have a more productive output with great quality. In this way, the company would also be inclined to give their employees more benefits and perhaps to increase the salary, without affecting much of their financial capability, unlike if they have to pay a great number of employees. And this would be of great motivation to the employees to do better and to give the best they could for their work. Read more..

Interview guide for you

Glad to be back again though I was really frustrated last night about how things went from my end when I was fixing some bugs. Bugs were found at the community forum. Anyhow, I already fixed it last night and its now fully functional for everyone’s use.

Just yesterday I finished my interview guide. I was supposed to upload the guide last night after I fixed everything but my eyes and body started to betray me thus, things went undesirable I was not able to save the stuffs. Now, I’m back again trying to retrieve what my uncreative mind produced last night.

So what is this interview guide that I have created? Actually, this is a carefully crafted guide patterned with those indicators of future performances. This may not be a desired model for interviewing but still its worth the look and asking. Questions here are highly structured and answers corresponds to certain individual attribution to one’s capacity. Read more here..

An unacceptable trade-off

A commentary I read from a national broadsheet paper a few days ago observed that a significant portion of the middle class frustrated with the lack of legitimate venues for pursuing meaningful reforms under Arroyo administration are willing to support exercises in military adventurism like coups as a result of the negligible prospect for the mounting of another peaceful EDSA-type uprising that can topple the present president which is now seen as the same, or even worse than her deposed predecessor.

On the other hand, there are those willing to turn a blind eye on all the scandals and the creeping martial law happening under the present dispensation and are even willing to support the stimulation of calculated events to justify the imposition of unconcealed martial law or a state of emergency on the pretext of preserving whatever economic gains pulled together by GMA.

Both are unacceptable for me.

About the 12-year-old Girl Who Killed Herself

The nation is shocked by the news of a 12-year-old girl who committed suicide.

One aspect of the event that’s pissing me off is how everyone is blaming the government. As always. Do accusers really think it was the government’s fault? Or are they just pointing fingers to say “hey, I have nothing to do with this” or “hey masses, I’m rich but I’m on your side, and remember that when I need your support in the future, ok?” Some idiot even labeled the girl as a “young martyr!” F**k that! Stop kissing poor people’s asses just to appeal to the masses!

Secret Garden

Where is this?

Midnight in the garden of good and evil

Even before I finished training in medical school, I have already felt a calling to work in the world outside the hospital. The promise of attaining better and sustainable health outcomes faster by engaging populations rather than individual patients led me to the world of community development and public health. The overpowering atmosphere filled with sickness and gloom, hospital politics, and stifling routine hastened my footsteps away from hospital work.

But as I’ve began to spend more time in the university hospital again over the last few days, there’s this unshakable nostalgia of my previous hospital-based life: the flurry of activity in the emergency room; the stress of rounds and reports; the need to devour books and journals; the camaraderie among overworked and underpaid fellow health professionals; the adrenalin rush of a toxic duty in the ward; the extremely sound sleep after a toxic duty. What I miss most is the almost unbridled interaction with individual patients, as they and their families put their lives in my hands and they take on the unwitting role of my mentor and teacher.

One of them I will never, ever forget. Here’s why.
