On Palm Readers and Other Sorcery
So yeah, fortune tellers don’t have a very optimistic outlook for the rest of my life. Now, I don’t necessarily believe in fortune tellers and any other sort of sorcery like that, but then hearing things like that are, well, in a word, depressing. Well, imagine being told about these stupid turns your life will take. It’s not exactly the happiest thing to hear. It’s not the fortune teller’s fault, but still, they make you realize stuff… Read more
Palm Sorcery
So yeah, fortune tellers don’t have a very optimistic outlook for the rest of my life. Now, I don’t necessarily believe in fortune tellers and any other sort of sorcery like that (unlike this fairy midget), but then hearing things like that are, well, in a word, depressing. Well, imagine being told about these stupid turns your life will take. It’s not exactly the happiest thing to hear. It’s not the fortune teller’s fault, but still, they make you realize stuff. America’s 10 Most-Wanted Workers
Kate Lorenz, CareerBuilder.com Editor
The reason? In some instances, there is simply a lack of interest in certain industries, such as manufacturing. Many of today’s young professionals are focusing on jobs that require computer and analytical thinking skills, rather than ones that require working with their hands. In many cases, however, especially for hiring managers looking to fill management positions, the problem isn’t a lack of candidates, but a lack of qualified candidates.
In order to resolve this problem, some employers are offering incentives to older workers who are willing to delay retirement for a few years. Others are offering hiring bonuses to attract new, more-qualified workers. Still, other companies are going right to the source of the problem, setting up courses with colleges and universities that train skilled workers or to pay students’ tuition to prepare them for specialized work. Companies like Exelon and General Electric are providing research grants and scholarships for power engineering programs at four-year colleges. And the Natural Association of Manufacturers recently established the “Dream It. Do It.” program to train young professionals and garner interest in manufacturing careers among students.
According to Manpower, Inc.’s 2007 Talent Shortage Survey, the following jobs are most in need of qualified workers right now. Due to high demand, pursuing a job in one of these fields could mean increased pay and more benefits for those willing to take the plunge. Read more
EXCLUSIVE : JDV napangiti while escaping DEATH?
I know this story is out of my desired topic but I really can’t help myself. I am just reacting as to how this JDV reacts in front of the media while he was being interviewed last night about the bombing that rocked the Congress.
“Napangiti lang na good thing daw nauna syang umalis tapos after the explosion balik na naman daw sya.” I can’t imagine a normal guy smiling while 1 is dead and 12 were hurt as reported last night.
Cebu’s three (3) most powerful personalities.
I just thought about this a while ago when I attended a product/service presentation from a provider in our conference room. The presentation was great and I’ll be talking about it in my next entries if time permits. Three most powerful personalities in Cebu measured by connections and assets worth and what’s in them that made them so valuable in this ever changing world aside from being so powerful and untouchable. If you’re an employer having them is a sure business and sure investment. This is just a quick review on them and by the way based on “chismis” and the likes “lang so wag kukurap! “

hind this company has diversified its business from entertainment, communication, Bigfoot ventures, and Bigfoot global solutions. Not to mention other investments for sure it would surely be a very long list. Based on conversations with other job seekers it has been considered by various fresh graduates as an employer of choice. Proof is when I had still my Friendster account which I recently deleted it wherein one of my “friends” highlighted on her profile that working on Bigfoot is her dream job and to strengthen my claim that it is indeed an employer of choice a few of our workforce from my previous employer join the bandwagon of Bigfoot as to why? Salary was one thing since it was stated in his resignation letter aside from the company really offers a fun place to its employees. Read more
Celebrating life, instead!
I wanted to blog something about suicide because of the blog of Liz about another suicide supposedly attributed to poverty, and because I want to advocate that the media should stop this media-hype because of the possibility that suicide might actually be “copied” and misconstrued that it is cool to commit suicide as what Prudence has mentioned in her blog as Werther Syndrome.
I had to refresh my psychology since it was already eons ago! I rummaged through the net and looked for theories of attribution, cognitive dissonance and suicide itself. But then, discussing suicide is in itself mind-boggling. So, I decided not to discuss suicide for several reasons:
Batasang Pambansa Rocked With Explosion
At around 8:10 pm November 13, an explosion at the Southwing entrance of the Batasang Pambansa had injured at least 6 people and killed Basilan Rep. Wahab Akbar and Gabriela’s Luz Ilagan’s driver, Marcial Tando. Negros Oriental Rep. Henry Teves and some other staff people were among the injured who were taken to Miguel Malvar Hospital immediately after the explosion happened. PNP said that Wahab Akbar was the likely target but they have yet to confirm this. They further speculate that the bomb used had been remotely detonated by, possibly, several men in motorcycles seen near the accident.
Metro Manila and the Senate security is understandably placed on red alert. The Glorietta 2 bombing hasn’t entirely left our minds and this comes now. What a bad timing. I mean, doesn’t it seem weird, orchestrated even, that bad things tend to happen one after the other these days? Comelec Legal Chief Alioden Dalaig’s death hasn’t been solved yet and then another government official gets killed. And the thing that scares me the most is that this one happened inside the Batasang Pambansa, a place where security is supposed to be tight.
