New All Text Promo of Smart Telecommunication
Today, I had a glimpse of the tv advertisement about the new All Text promo of Smart. For quite sometime, Smart’s you All Text 20 gives you 90 Smart to Smart SMS and 10 SMS to other networks. Now here come two new variants -
All Text 40 – gives you 180 Smart to Smart SMS and 20 SMS to other networks valid for 2 days; and
All Text 50 – gives you 270 Smart to Smart SMS and 30 SMS to other networks valid for 3 days.
Correct me if I’m wrong but the latter was not mentioned in the advertisment. Customer service representative said that promo is up to December 31, 2007 only. Just sharing this info to all.
One more chance
The story is typical but not plain.
The recipe used, though tried, tested, and already much- touted, still churned out a flavorful experience because of the freshest, almost perfect basket of ingredients.
All Pinoys- all human beings, for that matter- might as well get royalties since the Star Cinema’s film ONE MORE CHANCE seems to be loosely based from any and all of our lives.
My sister didn’t have to ask me twice so I’ll accompany her to watch the latest John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo flick since I am an avowed Kapamilya and I am a firm believer that John Lloyd Cruz and I are actually twins separated at birth. Else, why would my paternal grandmother- God rest her soul- and maternal grandfather be quick to quip that we- John Lloyd and I- look so much alike whenever they saw the former on tv? I must look for that diary that holds our true identity… But I digress.

The obvious difference
I brought my two sons to a birthday party today. There were lots of spaghetti and chicken. There were pink, red, blue , green and white balloons scattered on the floor and on chairs. There were kids running all around, screaming, crying, screeching. For a minute there, I lost focus on my own kids and felt like they disappeared beneath all the shirts and jeans and sneakers.
Because I also brought my kid’s nannies with me, I was able to relax and let me kids roam around. As I watched them play, I mused on how different these two human beings are. They were both formed out of my own genes but if you really think about it, they are as different as night and day.
How The Philippines Overpowered Poverty (In Memory of Mariannet Amper)
- Aristotle
The year is 2036 and the World Bank has just released a report declaring the Philippines, a developed country. The report says that the Philippines now ranks alongside its wealthy neighbors, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan. The report also gives a lot of credit to the turnaround leadership of the two-term President of the Philippines.
Here’s an exclusive interview with the President of the Republic of the Philippines:
Q. Mr President, what inspired you to lead the Philippines out of poverty?
A. I have always seen poverty as the biggest challenge in our country. In November 2007, there was an incident which really shook the core of my being. Mariannet Amper, a 12-year old girl in Davao committed suicide because she couldn’t take her miserable plight anymore. It was a big blow to the anti-poverty campaign of the government. People were outraged. How could this innocent child lose hope and give up on life? Click here and continue reading…
Hayden Panettiere, You’re Under Arrest!

From E! News:
Hayden Panettiere’s heroic dolphin-saving mission last month wasn’t without its consequences. “I learned that they have an arrest warrant out for me in Japan,” the Heroes star told E! News exclusively Wednesday. “We just found out.”
Well, that’s a little too casual of a reaction for an arrest warrant from a country that has giant robots and Godzilla. Be afraid, Hayden! Astroboy can fire bullets from his ass!
Interlude
Coincidences or real political motives?
The Batasan bombing, the Dalaig assassination, the Glorietta incident. Are they mere coincidences of unrelated events or are they part of a subtle political strategy directed towards a particular objective(s)?
The various reactions so far that came out range from airy dismissal as coincidental, unrelated (Malacañang) to a dark US-inspired conspiracy (CPP). There are a lot of other theories in between but what is striking in all these other speculations is the disbelief of official police pronouncements.
Maybe it is just the generally low level of credibility of the Macapagal-Arroyo’s government, but there is the disquieting real political context that these events are being tested within. This context includes the pressure on the GMA people to ensure their political survival in the face of the 2010 end of her term, the creeping doom of a lameduck presidency, the uncertain health of key administration figures, the failure to make headway with any agreement with the opposition or with the presidentiables, the renewed efforts by varied groups of the opposition to get her out of power, and the unchanging negative public opinion.
Poor Synergy = Poor Customer Service
After experiencing broken promises and sloppy customer service in different occassions, disecting the cause of a poor service or unmet customer expectations can be value adding. Allow me to share briefly some of my experiences:
- I subscribed to a telecom company who offered a wireless phone and internet connection but I ended up frustrated since it can’t be relied upon. Drop calls are normal occurence as well as intermittent or no internet connection at all.
- I also subscribed to another telecom with their “quick install” gimmick. Indeed, the unit was installed the same day. We were promised activation in 3 days, because of the long holiday break. But it took them 10 days to activate the DSL and phone unit.
- Poor service in banks are also common,
- I was inconvenienced for 2 days, unable to to withdraw money from my account. As consequence of bank mergers, the accounts has to be converted and transactions suspended for 2 days. We were not informed, though, ahead of time.
- In a different bank, I applied for a cyber account so I can receive payments via paypal. I was made to understand that I will be notified when my card is ready for pick-up. 2 weeks after, had I not called their customer hotline, I would not know that I need to call the branch to check if the product is ready for pick up.

ASEAN Vision 2020
ASEAN should be a community conscious of its ties of history, aware of its cultural heritage, and bond by a common regional identity.
On ASEAN Integration
With the 13th ASEAN Summit in Singapore starting today, many ASEANs are or will be asking what will be the benefits for them of this “Integration” we all been hearing this year. Then followed-up by questions about the ASEAN Constitution (ASEAN Charter) and the ASEAN Economic Blueprint.
