Facebook App: We’re Related

November 28, 2007

Since facebook’s launch of 3rd party developers, thousands and thousands of applications had been uploaded to the Facebook app. One of the most interesting app I found in facebook is the “we’re related” app. It’s similar to add-a-friend, but the only difference is that its add-a-relative. Cool huh?

According to Jason McGowan, the product manager of We’re Related, this app can… Read More >>

my 2 years in blogging

November 28, 2007

from my http://desperategerald.blogspot.com

At eto yon.

Where’s George?

November 28, 2007

I heard you!  You were asking what’s the title for.

Okay here it goes.  I was in a store and the cashier gave my change. As I was putting my paper bill on my wallet I noticed a stamp on a one US dollar bill where it says “See where I’ve been, track where I go next. www.wheresgeorge.com“.

So what do you expect me to do?  I logged in to the world wide web and I was amazed on how much effort they put in this website.  Their only purpose was to track George Washington of the one US Dollar bill.

Gratitude list 2007

November 28, 2007

It was too late when I realized that Sampras And Federer Are Practically In My Doorstep.

I spent a good portion of the Tuesday morning daydreaming about the Federer-Sampras match in Macau this coming Saturday. Daydreaming eventually gave way to frantic rummaging through sites online, to get the best airline and hotel rates for my sojourn to the former Portuguese Asian enclave. But after careful computation of the cost for my planned stay in Macau, I conceded defeat because the amount I had to shell out was more than a month’s salary.

This is one of the rare times that I wished my surname was Hilton…

Later that day, however, I realized that I may have had more than my fair share of the jet-set life, visiting places familiar and spectacular, meeting people as varied as Finns and Chileans, experiencing events that are tremendous blessings to say the least. With still 39 days to go before the new year and 51 days before by birthday, I believe I already have a lengthy list of items to be grateful for, missing the Sampras-Federer face-off notwithstanding.

A cursory, per-month examination of the year that is about to end generated a fine picture of yet-another blessing-filled year:

The day’s Big News (updated)

November 27, 2007

And the banner story from the Manila Bulletin today’s big news. Some parts of a Philippine Daily Inquirer article on the same event:

Roxas takes over LP helm, signals 2010 Palace run

MANILA, Philippines — With a disguised campaign slogan for a backdrop, Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II Monday assumed the leadership of the Liberal Party, apparently signaling the launch of his presidential bid in 2010.

LP banners in red, blue and yellow hanging at the historic Kalayaan Hall of Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City, proclaimed “Oras na (It’s time),” which rhymes with “Roxas na (Go for Roxas).”

Roxas, who will officially become LP president on Nov. 30, used the phrase “Oras na” nine times in his acceptance speech. The speech was itself titled “Oras na!”

You’ll never regret reading this story..

November 27, 2007

You’ll never regret reading this story..

I’ve read these story months ago and for the second time around a colleague of mine forwarded me this story. Some of you might have read this story while others have not thus; I’m sharing this to you and as guaranteed you’ll never regret reading this story. It might be difficult for you to understand some of the words being used by the author but I just wanted to preserve the real essence of the story thus, I’m not providing any translation to it. I would rather suggest grabbing your friend who’s fluent in Cebuano language before reading this one or else you’ll miss the pain, the agony and tears.

This is story is worth sharing. This story is worth pondering. This story is worth remembering. This story is worth recalling. These story is your attention.

Lastly, I would like to give credit to the real author of this story who happens to be unknown since I could not trace the real source of this story. To where you are, thank you for sharing this to all of us.

An Open Letter to Myself. From Myself.

November 27, 2007

Mr. Ade Magnaye,

It has come to my attention that in the seven months since you became single, your financial, emotional, sexual, and physical well-being has been in a state of constant decline. Yes, I know, you have the urge to tear this letter apart this very moment, and I don’t blame you. In fact, you have every reason to tear this letter apart and jump from the roof of your garage and land facefirst onto the pavement. Again. Hey, it’s your life and I don’t care if you want to waste it by being depressed like fuck and hiding under a blanket and the 20+ pillows you keep in your bedroom.

But hey, hear me out for once, okay? You fucking need some straightening out. Read the rest of this entry »

If I were her HR Manager I could have summoned her!

November 27, 2007

If I were her HR Manager I could have summoned her!

Worst, I could have terminated her at once… but wait, I guess I have to do it as per labor policy. Due process it is… This was my reaction to a certain supervisor on that particular mall after I heard her. Just last night after I saw my pitiful face on that book I mentioned in my previous post things turned bad. As to why I did not post this one last night? I just don’t wanna ruin my mood.s

Anyway, the story goes this way. As I was waiting for a buddy whose fitting stuffs in the dressing room I saw these sales ladies gathered around chatting and one was their supervisor. As to why I’m confident that she was? Well she was wearing a more identifiable uniform. I might be wrong but for sure she’s a notch higher in terms of category compared to those folks around her..

How to change a flat tire

November 26, 2007

I have been driving for almost 10 years now. In all those years, I have only been in a bumper to bumper accident only once. And that was the fault of the driver behind me who was tailgating.

It seems I am fortunate to only encounter different car issues once each.

I had a bumper to bumper only once.

I encountered radiator issues and car overheating once.

I encountered a dead car battery only once.

Did I say that I saw my face on a book?

November 26, 2007

Did I say that I saw my face on a book?

Yet another off topic for the week.

Yes, I did saw my face on a book “Exploring Bohol” when me and my girlfriend visited Ayala – National Bookstore to check on new stuffs just hours ago. She’s been telling me about it years ago but it’s just that I don’t believe it and I never cared about it. Just a while ago she took the book and showed me how pitiful I look way back in college. Hahaha.. Wow! Can’t imagine myself stuck in that book and when I tried checking on other related books still my pitiful face was there!

Confident of being a High Performer?

November 26, 2007

Are you confident that you can land a high paying job because you’re a high performer especially if you’re in sales and marketing? Watch out because recruiters together with headhunters are now so careful on assessing potential high post. Aside from a famous quote that “past performances does not guarantee future accomplishment” it has also been noted that high performers achieve such level due to the resources provided by his present or previous employer. Worst, some of these performers did not notice that.
