16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence
Readers, I would like to share this information to you. This cause has played a very significant role to our women.
From 25 November till 10 December 10, the Center for Women’s Global Leadership will lead again a global campaign against gender violence.
Since 1991, the 16 Days Campaign has helped to raise awareness about gender violence and has highlighted its effects on women globally. Each year, thousands of activists from all over the world utilize the campaign to further their work to end violence against women. The campaign has celebrated victories gained by women’s rights movements, it has challenged policies and practices that allow women to be targeted for acts of violence, it has called for the protection of people who defend women’s human rights and it has demanded accountability from states, including a commitment to recognize and act upon all forms of violence against women as human rights abuses.
Where’s my sales commission?
This was the most interesting question that my friend asked to her Hr Support before. So what’s the story behind this query? This was her story and of course I asked her permission to post this one for my audience to learn and react if they wanted to. Well, it all started when she was previously employed to a not-so-known Pharmaceutical Company. She told me she was a performer and was able to hit her quota while her colleagues were having a hard time doing it. So, basically not your average Medical Representative and I can attest to that. She’s smart, witty, gutsy and above all very conscientious on things she does. Moreover, the company she worked before was so conservative on stuffs and perks to the extent that they were never given assistance such us a company vehicle for them to use on attending leads.
“Who I am”
I am tall and lean yet inadequate to qualify for a modelling audition, though i haven’t attempted, since guts walk away from me. I was an ugly duckling during my highschool days, but thanks to my above average IQ, i was able to keep some friends which i assumed were more fascinated in my scholastic standing than my human placid exterior. During my teen-age years, the girls in my age were busy experimenting and savoring the delight of puberty by having boyfriends and engging in pre-marital sex while i was in a dilemma of impressing my family of my school achievements.
I had good grades, awards and distinctions citing my exemplary school performance. Just after college graduaton, I got pregnant (uhm..i even attempted to abort Caleb.. oooppss but that was only in my hysterical fantasy), the father of my son wanted to marry me, it was just only my family who disapproved it. Imagine, from unhappy childhood to boring teen-age years and now came and waving ‘The Motherhood” stage. It was a suicidal move. My clan considered me a curse, my name which was always in the table topics vanished and prohibited to utter. I was outcasted and i felt like my life was instantly derailed. I was 20 yrs. old then, 2 months pregnant, unmarried and tormented. Carrying a life in my womb was a staggering realization that my life was over. Nine months had flown fast and i woke up one day seeing this tiny little fellow sleeping so peacefully beside me.
Philippine Universities Drop Ranks; UP Now 398th
Last year, University of the Philippines barely managed to grab a spot in the Top 300 universities in the world according to a study conducted by Times Higher Education Supplement and QS Top Universities.
- 299 – University of the Philippines
- 392 – De La Salle University
- 484 – Ateneo de Manila University
- 500 – University of Santo Tomas
Although I’m not exactly very fond of ranking anything, I’m still disappointed in this year’s world ranking result, released early this month.

Corporate jobs especially your job will disappear
This may not be new to you but to someone it may be. Are you happy that you’re occupying a “thinker’s or advisors’ job? An analyst to be exact or somehow you occupy a bigger room in your corporate office coupled with a thick carpet? Watch out coz you’re job will soon be extinct. Are you kidding me? Nope! I’m not kidding here though it’s just a possibility. Who knows? Because of technology some jobs and functions were scraped out and if your not lucky your not one of them. For sure you can name some of your friends or people whom you know who were so badly affected when AI visited your office and stayed there for good. Actually, I’m not talking about those manual jobs alone here but rather your job as an advisor, corporate planner, analyst etc. So what’s that suppose to mean? It means that your days are counted.
Ateneo takes back the spot of 2nd highest ranked Philippine university
The highly criticized and controversial Times Higher Education Supplement-
Quacquarelli Symonds (THES-QS) World University Rankings were released last November 8, 2007. After the stir caused by De La Salle University outranking Ateneo de Manila in 2006, Ateneo takes back the spot of second highest ranked Philippine university.
Unlike the 2006 rankings, the 2007 rankings have a different presentation. The universities are clustered by the hundreds and arranged alphabetically with an overall rating that sheds light on a university’s ranking.
This is how the top four Philippine universities fared:
