Flip-flops, a holiday treat, and more coup views
I was thinking of finally replacing the broken string of my old rusty guitar. But arriving at SM Cebu City, I not only bought a new set of guitar strings but found myself in time for the opening of the mall’s new North Wing.
That was interesting enough. Also, there was the Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal show with Kris Aquino (ugh!) in SM’s parking area on the same date. But what really thrilled me was the discovery of the opening of a new bookshop in the new wing.
Power Books Specialty Store is now in Cebu. And so are a lot of new book titles! The next day, I passed by the mall’s new wing again and spent a longer time rummaging through the shop with my girlfriend Beryl.
Later, I went back to the same bookstore with my friend Dada who filled the air with curses and swearing about the books’ prices. (Well, actually we were both guilty) Most of them are worth P500 and above! But that’s about the only complaint we have.
A Message of Hope from Pope Benedict XVI (Personal Reflections on the encyclical letter, Spe Salvi) Part 1 of 3
Now, before I continue, I would like to say that this is not a critique of the Pope’s message. I am not in a position to challenge the Pope’s knowledge of theology and its applications in our world. These are my personal reflections. I would highly recommend my Christian brothers and sisters, even the non-practicing ones, to do the same – read the letter for yourselves and reflect on it. There are many news articles about it in various newspapers but they’re all influenced by the newswriter’s views as to what’s important and significant. So you have to read it for yourself and write down your personal thoughts on it. Click here and continue reading
Wordpress 2.3 Database error
My husband upgraded all our blogs just the other day to Wordpress 2.3. Finally! I kept bugging him to finish it already otherwise he had to teach me how to do it – which would actually be worse for him.
Schedule of Sumilao Farmers’ March from Cubao to the Ateneo: Dec 5-6
Their ancestral land was unjustly taken from them. Having gone through the legal system and still feeling justice denied to them, they have embarked on a 1500-km-plus journey from Bukidnon to Malacanang in order to bring to the President themselves the petition to claim the land stolen from them. After almost two months of travelling the length of the Philippines on foot, the Sumilao Farmers are finally here in Metro Manila!
The schedule of their arrival in Quezon City plus of their subsequent stay at the Ateneo from December 5-6, 2007Â can be found here. Updates can also be found in the Multiply site created for the Sumilao Farmers’ March.
Beyond Blood, Sweat, Fears — and yes, Sex
Do watch Death of Memory, which is being staged by Tanghalang Ateneo at the Rizal Mini Theatre in the Ateneo de Manila University. It will be worth your investment of time (approximately 2 hours) and money (200 pesos).
Glen Mas’ award-winning play gives a refreshingly modern rendition of purgation. A newcomer, Juan, finds himself in a nowhere land where “it is always three o’clock.†Nothing is peculiar about the place except the white space and the street sign that reads misericordia. No one else is there except Vesper, Itch, and Termino. No other memory is in their minds except for those tortuous moments that define them as victims: shame, abuse, and abandonment. No question nor act of defiance against the Keeper, who holds their memories, has ever been raised until Juan arrives. He poses the challenge of setting themselves free.
As mentioned in the title of this entry, there’s a lot of blood, sweat, fears, and sex. Continue reading ‘Beyond Blood, Sweat, Fears — and yes, Sex’>>
PHP Everywhere Conference
Yesterday, we, the people behind the scenes at this wondrous, God-inspired, awesomeness thing in the depths of the Internet called Auction.ph (that still left me an impression of doubting that people knew we even exist and that we could also try to change our tagline to “Just like Ebay” so that people wont need to ask what our site does) went to PHP Everywhere Conference held at Crown Regency Hotel in Makati. The conference was organized by the PHP User Group Philippines, Inc. and it was named the “The 1st PHP Developer’s Conference in the Philippines.” [Read More...]

Is your company moving or just trying to terminate you indirectly?
First of all, I would like to inform everyone that our site is now fully functional using Internet Explorer browser since it has been reported that it was not. We’ve fixed the issue just last yesterday and up until now we’re still trying to retrieve all the files. If you’ll notice any bug’s again, please do not hesitate to drop us a line.
Moreover, back up files was not that useful and that I don’t know. I keep receiving errors once importing the files. Worst, all our 100+ registered users were all deleted coupled with our partner links thus, were very sorry if you can’t find your links in the front page for now. Most retrieved links are placed on our link directory for the meantime. We will be transferring those links in our frontpage once done fixing things.
So, is your company moving or just trying to mass terminate all of you indirectly? Quite tricky ey? Don’t worry you’ll be enlightened after reading this short entry as to why I came up with this mind boggling opinion.  Let me till you this, companies are getting smarter everyday and if you think our labor code if full proof, your dead wrong, because there are lot’s of things that you don’t know that most HR know. Do you want me to tell you what I know? Sure I will, but let me do it in my own little way.

Mutual fund wonders
For many, depositing money in the bank is our only means of saving. That’s too bad as your money in the bank earns interest which usually less than the rate of inflation. In other words, you are actually losing the value of your money by keeping it there. Read more at Pinoy Seminars.
