Should mothers be natural teachers?
My eldest kid is in nursery school and their class lessons have started getting more and more advanced. Previously, he would bring homework where he only had to trace lines, letters or color some images. Now, we are on phonetics and reading syllables.
When I go back and recall, my son learned how to speak very fast. He was very talkative during his first year. And on his second year, he even managed to say “shuttlecock†very very clearly.
Ladies and Gentlemen… Welcome to Marocharim.com
Today, 5 December 2007, I was about to access my BlogDrive page and poof, the BlogDrive domain expired. I figured that The Marocharim Experiment was doomed, but I kind of forgot: I have my own web domain. Who says my online writing days are over just because the blog-hosting domain I was loyal to for the past three years temporarily expired? Besides, to echo Shari Cruz of Misteryosa.com, the very idea of me having my own webpage is a really good idea.
So today, I’m delivering on that really good idea. It will take a while before I really learn how to use WordPress, but for now, my loyal readers will have to settle for a free theme I sourced from WordPress (because I can’t seem to access my FTP). Somebody out there please help me out.
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to Marocharim.com.
Are We Truly Free?
True Freedom is the birthright of everyone. The freedom to choose and the freedom to achieve, to be free from worrying about money, to spend time as we like. Our hopes, and our dreams. The question is: Are We Truly Free?
From time to time, we need to reflect on our lives to see where we are now and where we are headed, just as the navigators of a sea-faring vessel does. I made a checklist to help you reflect on the things commonly held important by people.
Christmas time is at hand and it signals the end of another year. Come January, another year awaits us full of promises. This is a time to look back what happened this 2007 and a chance to plan ahead for 2008. This is the perfect time to chart a course so that we could achieve what we want in our lives.

Embedding PowerPoint Slides in Blogs
Have you noticed that the Blogger/Blogspot post editor only offers photo and video upload? The illustration below shows the icons that you should click if you want to upload photos or videos from your hard desk. However, what if you want to upload PowerPoint or PDF files? There are no straightforward options that you can choose. Hence, the best option would be to first convert the files into some sort of codes and copy-paste or embed them onto your blog in similar manner that YouTube videos are embedded on blog posts. Born To Shine
December is already here and soon Odd will be here to join me for Christmas and New Year. Despite all these excitements I am pretty much worried about him since his mobile phone and laptop were stolen by a bunch of Polish or east European thieves. First was the mobile phone while Odd was working in a store then the laptop when he was on a train back to Bergen from Drammen where he attended his grandfather’s funeral. It is quite a tragedy especially that he also lost his grandfather and it pains me that I am not there to help or comfort him. I wasn’t able to sleep just thinking about him.
Good thing is that I have an extra PC at home so my father will just deliver it to him and it so happens that his laptop is actually insured. Thank God for insurances!!! And dearest Odd if you are reading this here is a song for you which is the Swedish version (since there is no Norwegian version and we do understand Swedish so it is no biggie) of You Are The Music In Me of Highschool Musical 2.

Entrecard: Free Advertising for Bloggers!

I have been hearing a lot about this new advertising network called EntreCard from different blogs over the past days.
From what I have gathered, it is a system where bloggers can advertise on other people’s blogs for free. Instead of paying money for the advertising space, you pay credits which you can earn by “dropping†your virtual business cards on other people’s blogs.
If you want to learn more about the service, try checking Tyler Cruz’s review on the service, or you could check out EntreCard’s help page.
Personally, I think that the concept is ingenious. Though I am still skeptical if Pinoy bloggers would easily pick this up.
After tinkering around with their service for a bit (Check out the widget on the sidebar), I somehow think that this thing might be the next big thing. Hey, even the prominent A-list bloggers are using EntreCard on their blogs! Here are some of my initial thoughts on EntreCard:
- People would more likely visit your blog just to “drop†their business card without taking a second glance at your blog. It may increase your traffic, but your reader base wont really add up. A little knowledge on “Marking a Good First-Impression†could solve this little problem. Catch their attention and convert them into regular readers!
