Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia and Mar Roxas?
Last Monday, Beryl and I were required by our UP Cebu social sciences department teachers to attend a Democracy Forum organized by the National Institute for Policy Studies, a Liberal Party think tank.We left the forum early but I’m sure Beryl was right when she complained to me that it was more about early positioning for the 2010 elections and less on the other topics.

Coincidentally, Mar Roxas was also in Marco Polo Hotel in Cebu the next day to speak in the Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) managerial conference.
This comes in the context LP’s announcement of fielding either Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena as Mar Roxas’ running mate for the 2010 presidential elections.
Is this a good move?
Requinto clan: Preserving the Pastores tradition
By Zorabelle Fran Uy and Balbino “Ka Bino†Guerrero
This article was written by Zorabelle Fran Uy, a UP Cebu Masscom student, based on interviews by Balbino “Ka Binoâ€Guerrero of Narcisa Requinto and Barangay captain Fernando “Nanding†Requento of Tagjaguimit, Naga City.
A clan in this new city at the southern crossroads of Metro Cebu still carries on a long lost tradition that puts an original twist in the door-to-door Christmas caroling that we know today
Known in Naga City as the Pastores, they are town carolers composed of family members of the Requinto clan who stage the Bible’s narration of the shepherds’ search for the baby Jesus coined Los Pastores.
Close encounters with the Sumilao farmers
It was an honor to have joined them in their fight, even for just a couple of hours.
This Week, What a Fatigue
So I opened my web browser and visited my blog and I realized that it’s been quite a few days since my last entry. It’s pretty weird, because as everyone and their grandmother knows, I go online like every day, bugging busy people like Baddie for their Wordpress plugins. But it seems like I haven’t done too much blogging lately.
Yeah, my brain sucks like that. Also, I think my creativity has already walked out on me, along with my will to live. Also, I’ve been lazy- awesomifically lazy- even to read blogs. Read the rest of this entry »
NUJP urges authorities to ensure safety of Quezon journalist
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) expresses concern over the surveillance that has forced our colleague, Criselda Cabangon, 24, reporter and columnist of Ang Diaryo Natin (ADN), and founding member of the NUJP’s Quezon chapter, into hiding.
We call on authorities to ensure her safety and, if any of their units are involved in the surveillance, demand that these be ordered to stand down immediately and explain why they have placed a member of the media under surveillance. Read more
Camp-out vs GMA’s flagship mining project kicks off
Lafayette mine should be closed, affected communities compensated – Kalikasan PNE
Amidst reports of financial woes plaguing the Arroyo administration’s flagship mining project in Rapu-Rapu island, local residents are launching a week-long rally and camp-out in front of the Albay Provincial Capitol to call for the permanent closure of Australian-owned Lafayette Mining Limited’s open-pit mine and compensation for mining-affected communities, green watchdog Kalikasan People’s Network for the Environment (Kalikasan PNE) announced today. 10,999,999 Missing!
10,999,999 Missing!
Where are they? This is the common question being thrown at Sen. Trillanes after his failed coup attempt lately.
This is his second attempt to overthrow PGMA of which only lasted 7 hours. What happened? Where are his supporters? Where are those 10,999,999 who voted him for a seat at the senate? Are they tired of his rhetoric’s and ideals? What was then the reason why this almost 11 million voted him a seat? Were the Filipino’s being deceived by his promises or they’re promises? Or the Filipino’s were just being desperate for a radical change that is why they adhere to these idealists.
On one hand, some suggested why not just go to prison and write a book for him not to include others? Well, we don’t need Rizal anymore in this portable generation where people are getting smarter everyday, where people are confident of themselves, and people don’t rely to our governments’ initiatives just to become somebody. We’re just damn too confident and contented that the government has done their part and now it’s our time to execute our part i.e. survive. And to them, they’ve realized that doing writing a book is not effective anymore effective, a waste of time and nobody can hear them. They wanted to be heard! We’ve been hearing you years ago but were not listening anymore. As to why, you’re dreaming!
Site Within a Site
Do you want your favorite site to be displayed within your blog? There are Javascript codes that you can create and copy-paste on your website or blogsite to enable you to create i-frames. An i-frame is actually like a picture frame contained within another picture frame. It may also be compared to a window within a window. An i-frame allows you to view other sites within your own site. Hence, there is no need to navigate away from your site. You can simultaneously view two sites. For instance, if you scroll down to the footer area of this blogsite, you will see an i-frame displaying my Wordpress blog (Philippine Affairs). This is made possible by the i-frame codes that I have embedded on this site.
