On Benazir Bhuto’s Assassination

The news of Benazir Bhuttoâ€™sÂ murder first came to me through a text message from my philosophy student friend Dada on the same evening of the Pakistani opposition leaderâ€™s assassination in Rawalpindi.

I jestingly replied to him the next day that he shouldnâ€™t worry about it. After all, wasnâ€™t this the same Bhutto who said â€œI am ready to die for my countryâ€ when asked about the threats to her life in a Time Magazine interview last month.

But seriously, the political killing of the Pakistani leader and former prime minister, which has become the subject of condemnation from around the world, really is a causeÂ for concern.
