Bubba Gump

“Run Forrest run!”

They have shrimps, pasta and barbecues… but we didn’t really go there because of the food. We chose to have our dinner at Bubba Gump because of our (my?) love for Forrest Gump (and Tom Hanks).

Oh. But the food is great as well. =)

Conversations With An A-hole

Cheerleader

New theme, new post. I wanted to rant about the asshole who created this new theme that I’m using. What’s more is that I’d like to have a conversation with him and tell him personally what sucks in his theme. Because I’m too lazy to contact him, and because email is not personal (duh?!). Also, that girl in the picture is… Read on.

On Benazir Bhuto’s Assassination

The news of Benazir Bhutto’s murder first came to me through a text message from my philosophy student friend Dada on the same evening of the Pakistani opposition leader’s assassination in Rawalpindi.

I jestingly replied to him the next day that he shouldn’t worry about it. After all, wasn’t this the same Bhutto who said “I am ready to die for my country” when asked about the threats to her life in a Time Magazine interview last month.

But seriously, the political killing of the Pakistani leader and former prime minister, which has become the subject of condemnation from around the world, really is a cause for concern.

The large number of posts from bloggers all over the world on the death of Bhutto reaffirms this. Global Voices has set up a regularly updated Special Coverage page aggregating bloggers’ reactions to the assassination.

Subject: Please spread the word daw.
Hey all,
Jedi of Tsikot.com is asking help for some of their tsikot.com members.
http://wowpare.com/2007/12/28/pinoy-ofws-unjustly-imprisoned-in-saudi-arabia-tulong-daw/

A group of OFWs are currently unjustly imprisoned in Saudi Arabia in Cel# 6 Simisi Main Office of Jawasat because their employer had failed to process their eqama (work permit). -Tsikot.com (scroll down to see post)

Unbeknownst to them, the employer also never processed the extension of their work permits even though he has asked them to submit all their documents to him. Thus on December 11, 2007, to their surprise, the Saudi Police raided their workplace and arrested those present for working without an eqama (work permit). Two of the men, Ben Sangalang and Silbin Pongos, were fortunately not at the premises and managed to avoid arrest.

7 months daw na walang sweldo ang mga ito.. nakulong pa. Please spread the word.

Christmas caroling

Our house has been officially named… “ang bahay na patawad” (a.k.a the house that does not entertain carolers). I laughed when I heard my yaya tell us about how she heard some street kids talk about our house to other street kids.

It has always been the tradition in the Philippines, for kids and adults alike, to set out and go from house to house in the neighborhood singing carols and asking for money for their efforts. They often shout – “Namamasko po” at the top of their lungs hoping someone would come out and give them money.
