wowowee scam again?

December 23, 2007

Have you seen the Wowowee rehearsal video on youtube.com? It has been circulating the web for a week. The video is totally crazy, it shows  the rehearsal of the wilyonaryo segment of the said gameshow. Present their is the host Willie Revillame, co-hosts Mariel rodriguez & Valerie Conception, the dancers and some staff and crew, and a contestant who seem to be in chahoots with the show.

In the video you can see how the number inside the wheel shaped box changes from zero to the number five and vice versa. So it’s clear after all that the cheating that happened in the show a couple of months ago is true. If you remember, Revillame mistakenly pulled the film with the number 2 and another film with the number zero was left in the box revealing that their are two numbers inside. It even lead to the word war between wowowee host Willie Revillame and it’s rival show Eat Bulaga! host Joey de Leon.

ABS-CBN explained before that the incident happened was due to some “mechanical glitch”, that two numbers had the same design but they’ve already made some modifications. But with this new video, the ABS-CBN executive owe us another explanation, the issue maybe old but this video is a new evidence of the game show’s scandal. It’s imposible that the video is a “hoax” because the image is so clear that you will easily recognize the people involved.

The question is who took the video footage? Is it a concerned citizen? Or someone from ABS-CBN who has grievances against the host or the network he/she is working for.

How far would this new issue would go? Lately Sen. Chiz Escudero said that the Senate will investigate on this one, the if the people involved in this scam will be proved guilty, they should be punished.

Turning Heads

December 23, 2007

One of the biggest reasons why I bought an ASUS Eee (which I call “MacEnvy” because of its uncanny similarity with a MacBook) is the form factor. I mean, it’s so frigging small and cute that it’s a guaranteed chick magnet. Not unlike using a very cute baby to walk around the mall with, in the hopes of finding an extremely hot lady who’ll go googly-eyed over the kid.

But then if I had a cute baby on me I wouldn’t need to go around hunting for women, and kidnapping a baby to use as woman bait is out of the question (I promise to never do it again), I’d have to make do with this cute and sexy laptop of mine. I can actually imagine myself, hanging out at the Gateway foodcourt, leeching the shit out of their free wi-fi because I’m too cheap to buy a router, with my Eee, surfing the internet, writing a blog entry, and all that. Then, a really hot lady would walk up to me, and the following conversation ensues:

Lady: Excuse me.
Me: Yes?
Lady: I know you’re pretty busy and all but that is like the sexiest laptop I have ever set my eyes on.
Me: Oh, why thank you dear. Would you like to touch my, um, laptop?
Lady: Only on one condition.
Me: And that is?
Lady: I’ll touch your laptop if you touch my desktop. At home.
Me: Deal. Also, secks?
Lady: Yes.

Terrible sexual innuendos aside, though, the Eee is indeed an attention-grabber. I’ve been getting looks from various people whenever I bring it along. But I think it’s more of the “hey, isn’t that the fat guy who’s been looking at us in a perverted way and tried to steal the brownies we’ve been eating? Should we call the cops?” look. Conversations With The Inner Self

December 23, 2007

Every human being has an inner self. No matter how much we deny it, that other side of us is there, lurking in our subconscious, making itself known through Freudian Slips, dreams, mutterings, etc.. How well do we know ourselves? How well do we know our inner selves?

More Fish and Chips

December 23, 2007

I don’t know if I am the last to know, but there is something new with Fish&Co.

A few months ago, I wrote about how I almost died when I ate the NY Fish and Chips, and the next time I ordered it I wasn’t even able to finish it.

This time, they have introduced several variations to the Fish and Chips dish. The Philadelphia fish and chips is served similarly with cheese filling. In this case though, they used cream cheese. The other choice you have is the one filled with garlic and herb.

Paano Nga Ba?

December 23, 2007

It’s during times like this that I really question myself, “Was the decision my dad made correct?” We’ve spent 7 Christmases apart since he left to work abroad on the April of 2007. Although I can say that nasanay na kami, iba parin pag nandito siya at kumpleto ang pamilya.

I hope sooner..

But many (or I think all) of them are not happy with the continuous backsliding of the Dollar-Peso Exchange Rate. I took up my Econ1(Intro to Economics, Taxation and Land reform) subject just last semester and I learned that the lowering of Dollar-Peso Exchange Rate means that Philippine economy is getting better. Well, in my observation, this strengthening of our economy is not felt by the “masa” and the middle class. Prices of goods continues to soar high.. Unemployment rate is still high.. Except of course sa mga nag-aabroad. And these OFW’s and their families who are one of the major reasons of the strengthening of the Peso are also affected.. -heightening of prices of goods, gasoline, at pamasahe. Most importantly, since ang baba baba na talaga nang dollar ngayon, it means na bumababa na din ang value nang sweldo nang mga ama namin pagkapadala dito sa Pilipinas..

3 Things I Don’t Want to Get This Christmas

December 22, 2007

Ilang araw na din ang nakalipas ng una ko tong makita sa blog ni GMTristan at ni dChen at naisip kong gayahin dahil ilang araw na lang pasko na.

3. Socks - Giving a college student (like me) a pair of sucks socks is just annoying, imagine how many pairs of socks I own?! My mom bought socks 5 pairs (black and white) like every semester not including the once that we bought for social functions. Just multiply 10(5 black and 5 white pairs of socks) by 6(6 semester) and you’ll get a freakin’ 60 pairs of socks that I can make into a big bag…more?

Quick Blog Tip: Concentrate on Doing Other Stuffs on the Holidays

December 22, 2007

A Blogger’s Christmas Wish

I was checking my blog stats this morning when I noticed that my blog’s visits this past week was generally lower when compared to the average number of visits that I had during the previous weeks. I bet that this coming week won’t be any different because of the holidays. Yep, people are now taking the opportunity to relax and enjoy the vacation. I’m thinking of doing so too this coming Christmas!

But what if you don’t want to waste your time for the holidays and would rather go online than to go to your Ninong and Ninang’s house for the traditional Pamasko? Or what if you are not Catholic?

I suggest that instead of spending the week posting articles, it is better to concentrate on doing other stuffs that would be a benefit for your blog.

Feudalism is dead, long live feudalism!

December 22, 2007

After previously snubbing the Sumilao farmers and ordering riot police to block their way to the presidential palace, officials led by the President finally heeded the indigenous peasants’ request for an audience. After two meetings in Malacanang, the palace issued an order favorable to the peasants.

It was a triumph of symbols, Januar Yap writes of this sudden change of heart in his column. He concludes: “the Sumilao farmers simply cooked up something headline material.”

And while this development is a reason for everyone to be happy, it is also sad to observe that marginalized sectors with legitimate demands have to walk a thousand kilometers so their concerns can be adequately addressed.

But it is a breakthrough, nonetheless. As the Inquirer editorial puts it:

Green Tomato

December 22, 2007

Working at the center of the Makati Business district, it is often difficult to find food that is affordable and good at the same time. I recall being a frequent customer to the nearest McDonalds or KFC to avail of cheap fastfood but I had to walk quite a distance from the place where I work. And we all know how fried and oily food can affect your health and diet, not to mention your body weight.

So when different dining establishments started popping up around Ayala Avenue, it became a relief to be provided much needed alternatives to our daily McChicken meal.

Pablo Picasso’s Portrait of Suzanne Bloch (1904)

While on exhibit, paintings by Pablo Picasso and Brazilian painter Candido Portinari were stolen from the Sao Paolo Art Museum (MASP) in Brazil, which is actually the first major theft in their 60 years of operations.

Dreams for Sale

December 21, 2007

I was at Starbucks yesterday as part of my pathetic attempts to get started at studying, and, as part of my procrastination strategy, browsed through yesterdays papers. One header in particular leapt out at me from the middle of the Inquirer’s opinion pages. It’s a commentary by Juan Morales called, “Wedding Rings for Visas” and it explores another facet of the great Filipino Diaspora - that phenomenon of marrying to migrate.
