Garlic Mashed Potatoes
I would not call potatoes as the Philippines staple but I can say that it is very popular. Almost everyone loves french fries, others prefer the healthier baked potato, or mashed potatoes which come as side dish to most fast food dishes.
My mom has done mashed potato in several different variations. I myself have done a bit of experimentation on this popular dish and would like to share how I do my yummy garlic mashed potatoes.
Christmas = MMFF
Christmas Curse
Every year, December 24th is my favorite time of the year, apart from my birthday and New Year’s Day, while Christmas is the most traumatic, most chaotic day for me. While everyone is busy buying gifts for their inaanak and pamangkin two to three weeks before the 25th, my whole family is going nuts just planning where we’ll spend Christmas up until the 27th. This family ‘tradition’ of going off somewhere on Christmas started just a couple of years back when my sister and I realized the sort of stress my mom goes through every year when my dad’s tianak-like inaanaks and pamangkins come to invade our house.
 BeforeÂ
When we were kids, my mom and my dad never peddled us to our Ninongs and Ninangs or even to our Lolos and Lolas to have Pamasko. We never had to ‘beg’ or make pa-cute for money and gifts because as my mom always put it,
“Don’t ask other people for things your dad and I can give you.â€
Quotes from the Filipino Blogosphere 2007
I don’t have time to quote all the quotable quotes surrounding issues of common concern in the pinoy blogging community during 2007, but here are some that I personally find memorable.

(Title of the last entry on Julia’s blog dated January 13 this year. The American peace corps volunteer was killed last April.)
Benj:
…the last time I checked, the Philippine Blog Awards was an event that was supposed to champion Filipino bloggers regardless of creed, affiliation or niche. How it transformed to an exercise to remind bloggers to be steadfast in [our] Christian commitment and help bloggers lead us closer to You [the you being their god] is totally beyond me.
Decent Mother:
You [Sexy Mom] are a disgrace to the Filipino women. We have been trying to change the image of the Filipino women in the internet. Foreigners type “filipina†to search for women to have sex. The same kind of people (pedophiles and perverts) type “sexy mom†and it points to You . You are an embarassment to our country. Stop using SEXY MOM. Filipino mothers are loving caring mothers. Leave the SEX part in your bedroom . Mommy bloggers laugh behind your back because of your pseudonym. Filipino women are too polite to tell you to say that using sexy mom is killing the filipino women. (Posted in Sexy Mom’s blog)
Text Messages I Received This Christmas

It’s not going to be surprising if you were able to receive a lot of text messages few days prior and within Christmas day. Actually, you really have to anticipate it and you just can’t stop it.
Now, I just have some questions for you:
1. How many christmas sms/ text messages did you receive before/during/after christmas?
2. How many of those are unique, personalized or recycled?
(3. Did you receive any at all? lol..)
Your Final Chance for Blog Backup Copies
You were trying to find and hack a better look of your blog theme and crispier gaze of your sidebars, suddenly after hitting Refresh button, your blog site appeared weird from what you have expected! Or your blog got whacked up. Your blog got corrupted with no clues at hand !
What makes this event worst is remembering that you have already purged and permanently deleted your local backup copies? What about the backup copies of your hosting server – well those were done on monthly basis and you need to have at least the recent one. What about now?

My Blog Issue
My first blog was ranking on Page 1 and there are times that it was dancing on top of Page 2 search results for about six months of continuous blogging. I was so happy and considering that at an early blog age, my free blog site had attained even the second page of Google search results. Well, that was before.

Keeping Myself Afloat This Holiday Season
Based on people’s twits, it is obvious that a lot are in a good mood nowadays because of the holiday season. Wrapping presents, attending parties, preparing to go on vacation, writing online about Christmas…these are but some of the activities that people are recently engaged in. I also enjoy doing these things, as these are part of the tradition of the season. However, most of the time, I think I’m two beings, one person doing all of these mechanically, and another one just observing everything from afar, detached.
I have to say that I’m not that all happy this holiday season. And this is, for most part, because I’m not that happy staying here at home. Though I’m happy to be finally spending the holidays at home after four years of being on duty during Christmas and the New Year, I’m not much enthusiastic to be staying here.
Thomas the Tank Engine
I think majority of those who enjoy the holiday season are kids. The reasons are many – there’s vacation from school, lot of parties, lots of delicious food and yummy desserts, not to mention the tons of gifts they anticipate to get.
