White sands of Candabong, Anda, Bohol

No doubt it was the highlight of our vacation in Bohol. Last December 30, we trooped from the mountains of Sudlon, Alicia, Bohol, where my wife hails, to the enchanting white sands of Candabong, Anda, a nearby town, for a cool Rizal Day splash.
The beach was public. We paid absolutely nothing to get in. The sand was creamy white and not artificial, unlike those in other private resorts in the province. At the farthest end of the semi-oval stretch of white sand is a small rock/island shaped like a soldier’s helmet. Along the shore were lines of boats and huts lying idly, as if time has stopped in that corner of the world.

Hi,
I read your post about this candabong, anda, bohol. I am from Ormoc City and me and my family usually go on trips to diff. places during summer time. We are planning to visit bohol on may, specifically the anda town.
But i would like to know if there are available houses for rent along the shores of candabong which we could stay, and if there is, how could i contact them for reservations.
Thank you very much for providing me the information needed and I hope and pray God will bless you always.

Candabong has many nature wonders like white sandy beaches, caves, diving areas and rare species of wild animals. There are a lot of reasons why foreigners wouldn’t invest in this barangay. Among these are:
1) Very poor water supply – The town needs to improve the waterworks system which currently relies on gravity. Candabong is the farthest barangay from the water source so that most of the time water is not available. When there is a heavy downpour, municipal plumbers lessen the flow of the water as it will surely turn brown with mud
2) Barrio folks compete with each other as to who has the loudest sound system. They believe that if you have a boom, boom. booommm, thud, thud, thud coming from big sound boxes, amplifiers and woofers, you are considered rich! The barangay captain cannot even do anything to this problem! Videoke and sing along joints are a plenty in Candabong!
3) Very narrow concrete roads which are even used by folks to dry their copra, corn and rice. They even use timber and rocks to warn motorists that part of the road is used for their products. You have difficulty driving especially if there is an incoming vehicle.
4) Some folks do not know how to treat foreigners. They oggle at white people as if they have seen ghosts. It is not good if they shout, “Hi Joe!” . Even the Americans do not like to be called that way. How much more with Europeans and other nationalities who visit the area!
5) Majority of the people are not aware of road safety. Children play on the streets and would not even move when you beep your horn. Adults would not even stay on the side of the road when you blow your horn. They will just look back and stare at you! They think that paved roads are extensions of their living rooms!
Something should be done to make Candabong a haven for tourists someday!
I hope barangay Candabong will improve with a new leadership. Talemaje!
