Let Us Help.

I have heard rumors about the governments incapability to handle cases like rape and abuse on women and children. But I never did realize how stupid I am for not believing.

I was supposed to write an article with the same title about 2 days ago, but I was too lazy to do it. But the situation is just too persistent.

Around 7am this morning, my professor called me and my two other classmates and instructed us to go the police station near the vicinity and capture the latest activity there our assignment. So I head straight to it. At the entrance, I saw four policemen staring at me as if I was a culprit. I went to the front desk and inquire about the latest case they are handling. The fat guy pointed me to the seniors table, and there I found this girl who is crying, alongside her mom.

She is in her 20’s. I can see half of her face, while the other half is contained by her palm. She was crying. I know. Its not fake. The reason? She was raped.

By the looks of things, she is complaining that they saw the suspect near their house as if it was waiting for her to go out and abduct her. And continuously asking the authorities why aren’t they doing something to capture that man.
The polices, in return replied that they are doing what they can. But are they doing it the best they can? Are they doing what they are supposed to do?
I never had the guts to take photos of her, I just can’t.

I found out that there is a community, rather an online based counseling center for women and children who suffered these kinds of mental and physical abuse. The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network or better known as RAINN Just imagine the trauma, the fear and pain these people are feeling. They need to speak up. They need to say what’s on their mind. They need help. If you have Skype on, or maybe just your phone, the numbers to dial is 1-800-656-HOPE or 1-800-656-4673.

Let us spread this word and help others. Its our turn to change their world. Its your choice to change their world.
