Bakla’s Video Blogs

January 27, 2008

In 2006, I started a series of video blogs about my silly and boring life on my personal blog. It started out well but didn’t end. Yes, it didn’t end since like the Writers’ Guild of America, my brain went on strike. I left it hanging and all my two avid viewers were eagerly awaiting for a fourth episode (I stopped after the third).

Fast forward to the year 2007 when I started Bakla Ako, May Reklamo? and ventured into so many things aside from plain blogging. I did podcasts, created some videos, and well, new blogs.

Sometime last year, I launched the Bakla Goes Live! campaign with a bang but didn’t really do a follow-through. I did a collaboration with the premiere video blogger in the country today — Coy Caballes aka Cokskiblue. The only follow-up video I made was the Hot Filipina video, which was an entry to the Filipina Writing Project. Oh and yeah, that Vlogging Memoirs of a Gay-Siya video too! After that, it was zilch.

So today, we are re-launching the Bakla Goes Live! campaign with the pilot episode of our new series — “Are You ‘A’ Gay?” You would notice that the article “a” is unnecessary and is wrong to use. I will not go out of my way to defend that and say that it’s correct because it isn’t. Continue Reading >>>

Horrorscope for 2008

January 27, 2008

I have thought of writing this a few weeks ago but it’s only now that I have got enough time to write it. It would have been better and timely if I have posted this during the start of the year or on the first week of this month. But never mind that, what’s important is that I’m writing it now.

An Introduction. I haven’t tried publishing a funny entry here in my blog. In fact, I have only contributed twice in my entire writing career to a humor filled article. And that was way back in my high school days. In our official school paper, The Chimes, we had (but I don’t know if they still have it up to this day) this article under the features section with the title “Horrorscope.”

Teen Society Today

January 27, 2008

I was reading Manila Bulletin last Sunday when my eyes caught an article about teendagers gone wild. Well, not exactly wild but those teenagers who can’t hardly wait to uhm, do it. This made me think about what the other teens are thinking nowadays. Do they think it’s okay to have PMS?

I myself is a teenager but unlike the others, I’ve never been kissed nor touched. I don’t have a boyfriend. Sure, there are suitors around but school is more important to me. I know my priorities. I have many friends and is part of many social networking sites. I’m just curious, if some teens are like me, then why can’t the others be like us? Well of course, I respect their choices but don’t they think that it’s their future that’s being on the line because of PMS? And that a mistake in PMS could lead them to something harder to endure and even greater responsibility?

So with this, I urge everybody. Please, let the youth become aware of what PMS can do and why it’s better to wait for the right time. This is not just their future. It’s our future. The youth is dubbed as “Pag-asa ng bayan” but with the youth having babies of their own while they themselves still find it hard to deal with life, how can this be possible? Think about it.

Roast Porkchops with Potatoes and Leeks 1

And so the challenge of coming up with a gourmet meal continues. I came up with something original. One thing I hate is that I don’t have them big white plates for better presentation. Anyway, after several failures and misses in my cooking, I managed to come up with something pleasing to both the eyes and the mouth.

If you’re trying this recipe, please let me know how it turns out in your end. Also, let me know what else can be added to improve the taste.

Brothers and Sisters tv series

January 26, 2008

Do you watch Brothers and Sisters? I do. Every week I try to catch it on Star World. When the teaser was first aired, I thought the series was too heavy and mushy for my taste. However, for lack of a better show on a tuesday night, I allowed myself to watch it.

Brothers and Sisters is a tv drama about an ordinary American family dealing with everyday family conflicts. These conflicts include a gay brother, a controversial sister, sibling rivalry, dealing with mom, a mistress, sterility, and competition between husbands and wives.

Who Left the Fetus in Malacanang and Why?

January 26, 2008

einstein_howtosolveproblems.jpg

Entrecard Credits 101

January 26, 2008

I’ve been using Entrecard for my two sites and I really find it so cool because it gave me FREE traffic. Well of course it’s not totally FREE since you have to work your ass for it. But the thing is if you’ve exploited other possibilities using Entrecard credits you’ll get the most out of it. In fact you can convert real cash using EC.

Below are the most common strategies being used by others and me on how to get more EC’s and use it to boost ones traffic and convert them into real cash. If you have good stuffs in mind, please feel free to add it here. And BTW, I’ll be providing tips on how to convert EC’s into real cash without selling them for $$$ on my next article. Although you can do that of course but it’s up to you.

Fuzion Smoothie Cafe

January 26, 2008

Many of us have probably encountered fusion cuisine even if most of the time we are unaware of it. It is especially true these days when there is pressure to come up with something new or reinvent the classics with the hopes of enticing the taste buds of discriminating diners.

Fusion cuisine refers to dishes made with ingredients, tools and techniques that come from different places or countries in the world. An example would be something like BBQ chicken topped pizza or deep fried california maki.

Help the Children, Help the World!

January 26, 2008

Help the Children, Help the World!
MoveOn Philippines, a non-profit charitable organization based in Florida and aims to provide educational tools for poor children in the Philippines, will be hosting a Dinner/Dance Party in Florida on March 1, 2008 at 6pm at the Bethelite Conference Center (5865 Arlington Expressway) in Jacksonville Florida.

KASILA* is a fundraising activity that supports education in the Philippines’ most marginalized areas and encourages transformation of communities ravaged by poverty and conflict into peaceful, progressive, and empowered stakeholders in equitable development.

Through these programs, Move on Philippines contributes to international efforts to address high illiteracy and drop-out rates, improve learning of math, science and the English language particularly at the elementary level, and address special problems in the conflict-affected areas.

Proceeds from the KASILA Fundraiser will be used to fund programs that increase access to quality education in areas most affected by poverty and/or conflict.

* “Kasila” is a Maguindanaon term for chilli pepper. It describes the piquant burning taste of life’s experiences for many children in poor areas of the Philippines. Many of these children go to school hungry, walk to and from school for several miles on foot, and do not have adequate books and learning materials.

You might be wondering why we’re promoting it here when the dinner/dance is in Florida. Well even if you’re in the Philippines or in any part of the world, you can still help out by purchasing a ticket (or two or more if you’re generous enough) to the event. Tickets cost only $35.oo and that will go a long way. You may also opt to donate to the charity instead of purchasing tickets (tax-deductible for US citizens).  Continue Reading >>>
