Politics – Traditional, Revolutionary and New
“City air makes people free,†a popular medieval saying goes. This, of course, refers to the release from serfdom afforded by the towns of the feudal era.But this same migratory phenomena now happening in our own country, as described by University of the Philippines professor Randy David in “The tragedy of the rural poor,†gives the same adage an ironic, even tragic twist.
The Hunting Party
Updated February 6, 2008: The film is based on a true story. The name of the villain in the film, how forgetful of me to fail to indicate this, is Radovan Karadzic – war criminal and former leader of the Bosnian Serbs.
I just saw the DVD copy of the film The Hunting Party starring Richard Gere and Terrence Howard.
It was a satisfactory film, with all the trappings of a lighthearted satire on the hypocrisy of the industrialized countries and the international media. But sometimes the funny side and the serious side of the film fail to gel together.
It tells the story of three journalists who planned to capture one of Bosnia’s top war criminal. Called only as “the fox,†this villain was responsible for many horrors during the war that broke up Yugoslavia in the 90s.
Watching movies with my husband
I was tagged first by MegaMom then by mixednuts to blog about the last movie that my family and I have seen. MegaMom last watched Ratatouille with her family and mixednuts watched Transformers with her family.
First of all, my 2 kids are both too young to watch or appreciate movies so I am writing about the last movie that my husband and I watched during one of our date nights.
It took me a while to blog about it because honestly, I could not recall the last movie we watched. It was so long ago. And the movie that kept popping up was “Transformers†but hello that was released around June-July and it wasn’t THAT long.
Weaving ‘em together
This is the new form of Pinoy Soap for me. Every night I’d go out and eat at my favorite friendly carinderia, Melville, and stare at their mediocre t.v. set for the latest gossip in the Senate. I don’t know about you guys, but these events are what I consider showbiz extras rather than the tabloid-like headlines of T.V. Patrol e.g. Love scene sa Palos nauwi sa kagatan ng labi! or Angel Locsin, most requested na cover girl sa mga men’s magazines! I mean, who wouldn’t want to have a piece of JDV’s ass or hear about the administration’s latest tirade against everyone else?
The plot is perfect; it’s probably the most unpredictable story I’ve ever encountered since Frailty or The Usual Suspects. But unlike these two films, this one’s plot isn’t going to unfold in the last ten minutes of the film. There will always be two sides of the story; both manipulative, scheming and always trying to look like they’re protagonists. This story about JDV, the ZTE and the Arroyos isn’t about politics anymore: it’s about a personal family saga.

I Just Lost my PR2/10 Rankings!
Guys, are there any changes for PR rankings this month? I just found out that I lost my PR2/10.
.. Now, I’m PR01/10 hayyyyyyyyyy…Worst news after receiving a warning from Bidvertiser this afternoon.
This is really a bad news for me and my site. For sure income for this site would really be affected because of this abrupt change that Google has made for my site. Attaining such PR although a bit low was still worth the bragging for advertisers. At least for a cheaper price and at least it’s earning.
Account Termination Warning†A friendly reminder from Bidvertiser..
That was close!
Anyway, I received this warning from Bidvertiser just a while ago. T’was really nerve breaking, because I thought I was out of the program already. It was after I logged in to copy a code in order for me to place it in one of my ads, this bold words were in front of my screen, “Account Termination Warning“. WEW! That was really close.
Important Blog Items that You May Want to Place on Your Online Bangketa

It is already common knowledge to bloggers that any thing that is placed above the fold of your blog has the benefit of getting more exposure because it is the first thing that visitors see when they visit a blog.
With such a precious and limited space, we must know how to use every pixel wisely.
It’s like having a bangketa down at Divisoria. You have products to sell but they end up in your storeroom because you can only place a limited number of items on your bangketa. What you do is that you only put the necessary items that are enough to catch the eyes of bypassers and at the same time arouse their interest on your other wares.
Still Awestruck by Reportory Philippines’ Hamlet
Last Thursday, I saw Hamlet, my first Shakespeare stage play. Guess what? I didn’t fall asleep, YAY! Since it’s my first time to even hear Hamlet’s verses, I did not know what to expect off it. I did not even have the slightest clue that this was a tragedy. What I do know is I’m too old to still not know anything about it so one invite from Lorna Lopez of thebachelorgirl and I’m off to Onstage in Greenbelt 1 on a weeknight after work.
If you want to at least see a Shakespeare play in this lifetime and want something that won’t bore you out of your wits, then this show is for you. I’m not Shakespeare savvy but I totally dug this shiz.

European Higher Education Fair, Manila

In college, my blockmate and I dreamed of postgraduate study abroad. Now I’m only a few months away from getting my Master’s degree, and I’m still thinking of research and further studies. (Maybe I’m a little extreme.) But if you’ve ever considered going back to school, drop by the European Higher Education Fair and find out about different programmes offered by various universities, including information on scholarships (I wouldn’t have survived without one). It could be your turn to hit the books and experience Europe.
Need to be a bit more convinced? Try this.
