TV Ratings: Fact and Fiction

Once upon a time, about three or four decades ago, movies from the Philippine industry were testaments to quality media, a time where competition bordered along the thin line between healthy broadcasting and the propagation of cinema legends and remotely from dragging labels of ‘cheat’ and ‘cheap’ into the neighbor’s backyard. And like the cycle of the tides, lo and behold, network titans now splurge and feast—no, make that cannibalize—on the meat of the other. ABS-CBN and GMA are no longer mere acronyms. They have become synonyms of obsessive warmongering.
