“Evil” Ironies

Either Romulo Neri has become forgetful or he is still simmering the right label, perhaps beyond “evil”, that best befits GMA. When asked what is the adjective that describes Arroyo, Neri failed to summon the words from the deepest gorges of his rationality. It could have salvaged him from the media’s itch to scratch off the callous layer of executive privilege firmly wrapped around him. Or it could have bestowed upon him more of the administration’s grace, assuming he is willing to grovel before the golden touch of the queen. Or even more, it could have spurred the media into total frenzy. In any case, Neri seems more shy than before to face the inquisitive public.

Apparently, Neri has not only groveled before the golden touch of Arroyo. He literally walked with it. Yesterday, GMA and her minions paraded themselves through a ’solidarity walk’ with Neri beside his big boss in full flush of red. Which reminds me of Erap’s solidarity walk with his cabinet members at a time when the nation was on the verge of exploding. The only difference is that this time around we have Neri. We have Neri, we get someone whose amnesia or lack of words gets Arroyo’s mantle of support. Which goes without saying that the mantle is an obvious ploy to further preempt Neri from spilling more beans.
