The Good, the Bad, and the EO 464

I’ve always believed that one cannot be both good and bad at the same time, though I find it quite amusing that one can still be evil, lucky and a b*tch all at the same time. There is something equally fascinating with the way in which GMA is hammering her perception on what needs to be done to this country. For one, she desires for a ‘new people power’, one which is expected, or at least as far as she expects it, to manifest itself in the form of a concrete vigilance over the democratic institutions brewing over the ZTE-NBN anomaly. Apparently, GMA is adamant to lift Executive Order 464, so much so that the likes of Romulo Neri have sought refuge in this callous defensive mechanism to thwart off any testimony of a more decent kind.

i still think that PGMA is the best option as of this moment. who would you want to take the throne? this is just my opinion. for me, all of the politicians in our country do some evil acts. let’s accept that fact. (we can still change it). the only difference is that, “nahuli”. what i don’t like is that our former president, joseph estrada has the courage to speak infront of the filipinos bad things about pgma, while he’s the worst president we ever had. “bulgar ang kaniyang pagnanakaw”. Marcos is better than erap. marcos became evil to us because of the people around him.
well, it’s just my opinion..
While I respect your opinion, I beg to disagree. Gloria shouldn’t even be one of the options in the first place. And the fact that “all of the politicians in our country do some evil acts” does not make her any better, or cleaner, whichever you prefer. Who would I want to take the throne? Nobody, at least not one from among the ranks of our politicians today. But this does not mean we don’t have one. It would be an insult to the 90 million Filipinos to tell them that not one of them can do better than Gloria. And that is exactly the point, to look for one. We don’t even have to scour the ranks and files of Congress for that matter becaus, for all we know, it’s the melting pot of all evil there is.
And unless one is lazy and indifferent to the needs of the democracy, we won’t get any farther than where we began. I’m sorry to disappoint you but we don’t need Gloria. Nor an Erap.
its hard to say specially when you know little , my professor says that e.o 464 should not be exercised because it abuses the people’s right to or a persons right to exercise his freedom of expression.by all means of knowing and speaking of what he wants. for me maybe, the president did this because of her personal intentions and reasons not talking bout the ” national security or public interests”…and now that another controversy was broadcast.i think the president should give the chance to those people under e.o 464 to explain
To a certain extent, I would have to agree with Kris Pastolero that EO 464 “abuses the people’s right to or a persons right to exercise his freedom of expression”. Now that the EO 464 has been lifted, we should expect more people talking, although I still am wary of the fact that the ‘executive privilege’ remains to this day. I find it ironic, though, for people in the government to cast down EO 464 as a sort of protection for them, preventing them to divulge government conversations which can threaten national security when in fact the issues being thrown against the government are matters of national concern which threatens the democracy.
