POUND FOR POUND

February 28, 2008

The term pound for pound is something that is starting to really grate with me in the boxing world right now. I understand what it means and how the ranking is arrived at but I think it is a meaningless title or moniker for any boxer to attain to. It can’t be proved in the ring so why do the fans and the media give it so much importance?

CBCP’s Weak Exorcism

February 28, 2008

CBCP’s exorcism of all evil that there is in Malacañang is a mile short from the expectations of the outraged public itching to find a moral buttress from among the moral shepherds of this nation. And so you have a dismayed public cringing at the thought of a rejoicing Palace cajoled by heaven and hell, amplified in no small way by the indifference of some. I’ve always thought that GMA should not push her luck until 2010, that she should not insist her claim to…

February 28, 2008

Â

By ANDREW WHALEN, Associated Press Writer Tue Feb 26, 9:04 PM ET

LIMA, Peru - A team of German and Peruvian archaeologists say they have discovered the oldest known monument in Peru: a 5,500-year-old ceremonial plaza near Peru’s north-central coast.
Carbon dating of material from the site revealed it was built between 3500 B.C. and 3000 B.C., Peter Fuchs, a German archaeologist who headed the excavation team, told The Associated Press by telephone Monday.

Your Blog Gives the Philippines a Bad Face. Take it Down

February 27, 2008

I stumbled upon an article by Nick on PinoyDreamer.com titled “Philippine Politics in the Blogosphere? What do you think?” that talks about a particular blog called Gloria-Resign.net in which, from the name itself, is a blog against Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Nick says that such a blog with a political agenda should stay out of the blogosphere due to the reason that it paints a negative picture of the Philippines.

“In my own point of view, these kinds of blogs may give negative impressions about our country and should stay out of the blogosphere. Freedom of expression alright! But isn’t it getting too far? Getting too far in places it shouldn’t? I’m just worried about the impact it may bring to our country, and of course to us, Filipinos.”

Fidel Castro’s Legacy

February 27, 2008

After Fidel Castro’s retirement, Raul Castro was named as Cuba’s new president on Sunday as President Bush immediately called for further isolating the Cuban regime to stimulate “a democratic transition.”

Of course, we know this crap is all about the US ruling class’ desire to return Cuba to its previous semi-colonial status as a sugar plantation and Mafia lounge. Why are there no such calls on loyal US client states that are known to be undemocratic and human rights violating dictatorships like the Saudi monarchy or the Musharraf regime in Pakistan?

So the truth about Fidel Castro and Cuba from a debate in the current issue of the Foreign Policy Magazine:

part 2: The Joker action figure for the Dark Knight movie

February 27, 2008

This is the look needed for a Heath Ledger version of the Joker for the Dark Knight movie, as you can see that the figure’s detail on the face is good than the other figure we saw last time in my other blog post for the Joker action figure, I think they worked on a new sculpt or a new toyline. Probably they made this new figure line for collectors and adults, and it looks like that your kid won’t love this toy, because it is scary and disturbing.

The Good, the Bad, and the EO 464

February 27, 2008

I’ve always believed that one cannot be both good and bad at the same time, though I find it quite amusing that one can still be evil, lucky and a b*tch all at the same time. There is something equally fascinating with the way in which GMA is hammering her perception on what needs to be done to this country. For one, she desires for a ‘new people power’, one which is expected, or at least as far as she expects it, to manifest itself in the form of a concrete vigilance over the democratic institutions brewing over the ZTE-NBN anomaly. Apparently, GMA is adamant to lift Executive Order 464, so much so that the likes of Romulo Neri have sought refuge in this callous defensive mechanism to thwart off any testimony of a more decent kind.
