Separation of state and church: is there a such?
Saan na ang limitasyon ng gobyerno at ang simbahan sa panahon ngayon? Kung tatanungin mo ako dalawa lang ang masasagot ko dyan it’s either wala o magulo. As of now the government is weak and divided by means of belief, power and political gain. During the height of the ZTE broadband scandal where Jun Lozada and Joey De Venecia comes out to the open and reveals their knowledge about the said scandal it marks a big issue not only wounded the government but it separates the faithfuls also. The issue of morality takes place where unfortunately the church right now is thorned between who are pros and who are antis.

NCFP Age Group Championship
The National Chess Federation of the Philippine’s and it’s annual project’s National Age Group is happening now at the Mandaluyong City Hall.
Well of course complains and utterance of disgusts were sent to me via philippinechess@gmail.com or thru y comment box at http://philippinechesschronicles.blogspot.com about the organizer’s inability to, well, organize the event. Yesterday’s opening showed us what these emailer’s and texters meant.
At 9 in the morning, players as young as 4 and as old as 18, together with their ever supportive parents were already waiting for the commencement for the first round. Sadly and interestingly, NCFP had to accommodate on-site registration who were residents from far-flung and neighboring provinces.
Worst? They were made to wait for someone…. the games began by 330 PM!!!!
Imagine that?

American Idol – April 1 Dolly Parton Night
On tonight’s American Idol, Dolly Parton mentors the Top 9, and they are also doing covers from the Dolly Parton songbook.
Brooke White opens the show with “Jolene”. I love her, but really, it’s becoming the same over and over again. I need something new from her, but then again, who knows, she might win.
David Cook, after dominating the past weeks with his performances and controversies, did a cover of “Little Sparrow”. Tonight, he acknowledged the songwriters that he borrowed his arrangements from, including Doxology’s rendition of “Eleanor Rigby”. Something different about him tonight… Shocks! He got rid of the “over-comb”. I like the new hair.

Altar Boyz
They’re finally here! Altar Boyz, the world-famous Christian Boy Band, is in town and will be playing on all weekends of April! You read that right, Matthew, Mark, John, Luke, and Abraham are in Manila to sing sweet serenades, flirt, and bust out jaw dropping hip hop moves – all while praising the Lord! And, they’re all set to rock out masses of all denominations right here in Manila.
The Altar Boyz, in case you’re wondering, is a Continue Reading this entry – »
The Altar Boyz Musical Hits Manila This April
Repertory Philippines‘ local production of Altar Boyz hits OnStage Greenbelt from April 4-27, 2008 (please see below for schedule and ticket details). I had the opportunity to meet the cast and listen to the director, Chari Arespacochaga, during Altar Boyz’s presscon last week. More than acting, those boys can sing. And dance! FTW?! I thought only I can do that?! (This is the exact moment when lightning struck Fritz. In the shin. And face.)
Below is a video clip I put together from the vid caps I got during the presscon. Please take note of the following because I wouldn’t want you judging the play with what you are about to see:
- The presscon was held in MyCinema Greenbelt 3 while the actual show’s at OnStage Greenbelt 1,
- We were told that the cast will be accompanied by a live band during the actual show,
- What they are wearing in the clip may or may not be their costume (I never asked so I’ll find out during the show),
- The cast only did two songs during the presscon,
- Background music used on the clip is not from the show’s score,
- I took the footage so pardon the shaky cam 20 seconds into the clip. And most importantly,
- I am NOT in the cast. Sry2say, fans. I’m really really sorry.
Osteen’s Desecration of True Christianity
For those who may have stumbled upon yesterday’s post and are wondering just who Joel Osteen REALLY is, this post is for you.
According to Wikipedia, Joel Osteen is the senior pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, he is married, was born in 1963 so that makes him only fourty-four years old as of this writing.
“He was featured as one of Barbara Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2006″ and was named “Most Influential Christian in America in 2006 by The Church Report. His second book, Become a Better You, was released in October 2007 with a first printing of three million copies.”
Sounds like a really impressive guy, huh? But wait till you watch this:

Which is the chismis again? Are you referring to the issue raised by Julia as chismis? I do hope too that it’s only a chismis. But it seems that it’s not. And that it needs to be addressed seriously (or maybe not).
Or maybe there are other “too much chismis” that we don’t know huh?
