Ahmed’s Answers re: ‘Top Blogs PH’ issue raised by Julia
April 2, 2008
Just so you know, Ahmed is connected with Enthropia, the company that maintains TopBlogs.com.ph
“My name is Ahmed Farooq. I am the Director of Stuff (my official title) at Enthropia Inc. I basically run the company.”
The following are series of comments (including mine) at Basapa.com…
i found a cheater in TopBlogs.com.ph read it here:
http://julia-aquino.blogspot.com/2008/03/topblogscomph-top-blogs-philippines.html
andre and ahmed, what’s your response regarding the issue pointed out by julia? please address it asap before it gets worst. others might lose trust in the system if there won’t be any assurance that this issue is taken cared of.
The system is automated - it references traffic history and referrals from the previous week to assuage any cheaters.
As it picks up inconsistencies in the system it flags it for us to take a deeper look Expecting it to go around and harvest spam data on every single blog is not happening
@ahmed,
so what’s your action regarding the purported activity to “cheat” and “malign” the results of the automated system? what are your plans to prevent & suppress those kinds of unwanted behavior?
bloggers are already getting frustrated, disappointed & loosing trust on the system and even questioning the system’s reliability. won’t you guys at enthropia issue an official statement to address this matter? when? will you only answer issues by just replying to posts such as this?
how can you assure the filipino bloggers that they can get fair ranking? how can you assure us that we won’t be getting results that are questionable?
please do something to prevent the bloggers from completely loosing trust & confidence on the ranking system. we need answers, my friend. we need clarification. we need action the soonest possible time.
I have to ask - where were you when Abe was running the system? How come there were no sensationalist posts when he was running it? We *wrote* the script he was using to run the site - this is a far more advanced one.
Only a few bloggers are losing trust and faith. We are tracking more traffic and have more blogs signed up *every* day. We’ve sent out almost 11,000 hits to our joined sites - let me know how many other PH sites can claim this?
An automated system learns over time what is normal and what isn’t. It gets smarter over the days as it notices a sudden odd upsurge in traffic. Using a week of traffic is not how it works. We can manually take care of the abusers (and I’ve deleted over 40 blogs myself) until the automated system does its job.
@ahmed,
where were we before? we’re just here. maybe during those times nobody noticed such activities or attempts to cheat. just maybe.
are you now questioning us why we didn’t notice that before? i honestly don’t know why. maybe because it’s only now that somebody noticed it. maybe because it’s just now that there are doubts and unanswered questions and distrust by FEW as you call it.
how come there were no sensationalist posts before? SAME answer. maybe because it’s just NOW that a FEW are speaking out. just maybe.
we aren’t questioning that what you have now is a more advance version. what we’re trying to point out is that there was something done that affects the reliability of the results of the system. and what we’re asking is for you guys to assure us that you WILL DO something about it. please understand. WE’RE HERE TO HELP YOU GUYS. DON’T TAKE THIS AGAINST YOU. We’re with you in making sure that it would be successful. But please also help us clarify the issues being raised.
it’s good that you acknowledge that a FEW are already losing trust & faith. are you gonna wait until the FEW becomes MANY? i hope not. now that you already know that a FEW are speaking out, what are you gonna do about it? don’t you guys have an official statement to persuade the FEW that you’ll be doing something and that they don’t have to worry co’z you’re already working on it? nothing like that? will you just let the FEW opt out of the system and ignore their grievances? WILL YOU JUST WAIT THAT THE FEW BECOME MANY?
nobody is claiming anything, ahmed. we know you’re sending hits to pinoy blogs. thank you for that. BUT the issue here is WHAT are you gonna do to address the issue being raised? we also want topblogs to succeed that’s why we’re helping and raising this issue. we want it to improve. so PLEASE DO SOMETHING or at least let us know that YOU WILL BE DOING SOMETHING in the near future. is that too much to ask?
so are you aware about the issue raised by julia? this issue needs to be addressed but until now you guys haven’t replied to it yet. it’s ok if you guys won’t be doing anything about it YET. but at the very least you should acknowledge that you are aware of it. are you? if you’re already aware, are you JUST WAITING for the system to automatically detect it and automatically do something about it? if so then we should just wait for the system to AUTO cleanup the stats.
instead of praising the advance version, just do something about the issues raised
again, please don’t take this against topblogs. we are trying to help.
That’s about it so far. Let’s just hope this issue will be resolved asap.

Got something to say?

We’ll have a statement out soon, no worries
too much chismis.
That’s good. We’ll wait for your official statement and resolution. Just keep us posted
Which is the chismis again? Are you referring to the issue raised by Julia as chismis? I do hope too that it’s only a chismis. But it seems that it’s not. And that it needs to be addressed seriously (or maybe not).
Or maybe there are other “too much chismis” that we don’t know huh?
