The Chocolate hills are located in the islands of Bohor. There are over thousand hills standing tall about 30 to 40 meters in height. The tallest one measures about 430 feet. These hills are covered completely with grass. During the summer season part of the grass on top of the hill becomes dry due to the heat. Due to the brown hue it gives the color of chocolate and hence the name.

One can find varieties of butterflies in and around the Chocolate hills. The butterfly conservation center is built to preserve all these beautiful ones. The conservation center is located in Bilar. The different stages of development are shown practically here. Researchers are analyzing on the different medicinal aspects of the butterfly. You can take a guide with you who can help you in explaining things effectively.
The butterfly conservation center located in Bilar near the chocolates gives information about the life cycle of a butterfly. You can learn about the different species of butterfly present in and around the Chocolate hills. One can get information of how butterflies hatch eggs. The center provides livelihood for the people in the area. So when you are there please donate money to preserve these species.
