Do’s and Dont’s in Cambodia

The following Do’s and Don’ts in Cambodia are for all those who plan to visit Cambodia either for pleasure or business for a temporary period of time.

Greetings/Courtesy/Manners

DO offer the sompiah to those who are of equal or higher social standing. The sompiah is the Khmer form of greeting where you hold your hands together as if praying and bow your head. Nowadays though, shaking hands is totally acceptable although you may also do the sompiah before doing so. With women who are close friends (and the operative word is close), DO kiss both sides of the cheek French style, or what we Filipinos call beso-beso.

DO NOT point directly at someone.

A way to recover your lost PR and SERP

A very informative article for those (bloggers and webmasters) that was recently smacked by the Big G. Its either you have lost your pagerank on your site or worst got de-indexed from the search engine.

For most of us, Google is a hard nut to crack. Efforts upon efforts are put forth to increase your site’s SEO and while your efforts are working in other search engines, they just seem slow when it comes to Google. So what do you do? Try romance!

[Notable Posts #3] Regulation, Service, Jealousy, Photographs, Activist

You might want to read the following notable posts from notable blogs of notable pinoy bloggers… :)

Blog Regulation

With the freedom of expression afforded to bloggers, weblogs also become an avenue to attack an individual or group of individuals which maybe based on truth or on malicious intents of a person or a group. Because of this, there are news reports and discussions about the need to regulate blogs.

$10.35 an Hour After 18 years of Service

There’s this gentle and eccentric old man at work who I’d sometimes talk to just to have a little chit-chat. He’s a Filipino too but half-Chinese. He’s about 60 years old I guess.

Jealousy in the Filipino blogging community

Instead of supporting each other so all will arrive finally happy and fulfilled as bloggers and make the Filipino blogging community known to the blogosphere, few bitchy souls will pull the leader down and enjoy a great deal of crab mentality.

How ABS CBN TV Show Boy n Kris stole my photographs

Then my doubts turned into anger. Three photos from my blog appeared one after the other. What made it worse is that the photos were zoomed so close that the watermarks can no longer be seen on television.

When Blogs Become Unacknowledged Mainstream Media Sources

Blogs being scraped and plagiarized by other blogs is one thing, but what do you do about the beast that is mainstream media? It’s very disappointing for this type of thing to happen, since television and newspaper companies often consider themselves far more legitimate and reputable than anything that comes from the Internet.

Yet we are experiencing an emerging culture of taking things without asking permission, much less giving proper attribution. It could be a bunch of different reasons, mostly revolving around ignorance, but what does that say about supposedly educated professionals in the fields of journalism and mass media? Where are these people’s ethics?
