I’m really a fan of Pinoy Dream Academy to the point that I bought jackets, notebooks and even pin buttons. I’m a Rosita Bareng fan actually. Oh, please don’t laugh at me like that. She many not be the best singer in town but she never fail to catch the “masa” audience of the show. I like the Pinoy Dream Academy’s format wherein scholars are asked to live inside an “academy” where will they undergo rigid training. Moreover, since they live inside an academy equipped with many cameras and microphones you get to know the attitudes of the contestants and how they interact with each other …

I barely sit down with my mum and watch TFC with her but when I do, there has to be something on that really interests me. Since im also a singer… Pinoy Dream Academy is probably the first filipino show that i got hooked on. Some are great singers on this show, some can sing but not that great. my favourite i think would be Bugoy… That mentor thats with them a lot… the guy who hosts many games for the students… OMG he freakin annoys me!!! i just cant stand him,, I cant stand his big bag of bullshit… half the things he says do not make sense… hes a patronising and just plain annoying!!!!!!! get someone else to mentor the students… Arghh what a prick!
Pinoy Dream Academy is very good. Gives talented young people to learn and hone their skills… but I would say the very big downside of this is the text voting. We are dealing with talents here…. skills. After all these aspirants have undergone, after all the training, criticisms, pointers, lessons on practically every aspect of being a performer cum star it would seem that all these exercises are useless because on the last minute they are just subjected to unfair text voting. Just to point out the absurdity of this texting thing – -what if other contests like for instance the Binibini Pilipinas or the Miss Earth – what if after all the contestants have gone through they would, on the last minute be subjected to just buying of votes – text or money vote buying – like a popularity contest. How do you think would that fair? I mean this a talent thing.. and no one buys talent! Maybe the people running this show would think and re-think this over and over again. Okay, so texting is important to know , exactly just that: popularity. But to make it as the main determinant for winning in the end is unjust. Such waste of talents when the one who ends up winning deserves it less than the others who obviously deserves more because talent-wise they have more…… much more.
I watched this last Pinoy Dream Academy episode, and although I am not overly familiar with the top 6 scholars, I, like other viewers knew who has it. And by the comments of the mentors on their last performance, one would know who really did well. Why not do it like the Big Brother productions in other countries where the Big Brother – in this case the mentors, the teachers, are the ones to give the verdict. I would suggest that text votes be just given a certain percentage, like 30% and the bigger percentage, like 70% should come from the mentors’ grades. I hope this would be given attention. It’s quite frustrating ……I repeat, its talent – - let’s not waste it…..
