Jason Castro Voted Off of American Idol Season 7

After some rock and rolling by doing hits of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers last night, dreadlocked, 20-year-old contestant Jason Castro was voted off on American Idol after receiving the least number of votes among other contestants.
Hello Kalibo
Monday–I arrived in Paranaque City yesterday at around 11 A.M. I was worried that I won’t make it on time since heavy traffic builded up in Pasig City. Anyway, I thought our flight was 2 P.M. when it was actually 3 P.M. So there’s no reason to rush at all. My first airplane experience started on a bad light. I will not just explain why. On our way to the NAIA Centennial terminal, we were surprised that a beggar approached our car and asked for $5 dollars. Would you believe that? Maybe he thought we just arrived from the States and we’re “balikbayans.” It might have something to do with our luggages and big “balikbayan” box. We even thought that he was under the influence of illegal substance. What’s funnier with this beggar was when he realized that we weren’t “balikbayans”, he literally asked for loose change. He even pitched that he will buy NFA rice.

Pinoy Idol
I finally got to see Pinoy Idol yesterday on my home from the 4th Philippine Blog Summit. After GMA 7 acquired the rights of Idol from ABC 5, Pinoy Idol has started airing auditions this month. Just yesterday, they showed the audition from Manila at the SMX Exchange at the SM Mall of Asia. Compared to ABC 5’s Philippine Idol, I can say Pinoy Idol is much better. There’s something with GMA that made this competition more appealing. I guess it has something to do with more exposure and advertising. ABC made a gamble before when they acquired the franchise to Philippine Idol. They should have started building up their channel before acquiring foreign talent shows. Philippine Idol is too big for their channel. I just pity the Philippine Idol winner Mao Marcelo for being treated this way by GMA 7.

Hello everyone,
This is our first post in being part of the PBS Community. And we will start off with a little introduction and what we are going to contribute to this blog. First of all, we are Pinoy Teens Online, a Online Teen Community of Filipino Teenagers. We’ve been online for quiet sometime but just hidden beyond our shadows. As we’ve recently decided to move from a discussion forum to a blogging network, we’ve found out that there are members with good skills who have contributed with quiet a lot of helpful articles, and that is what we’ll be sharing here with you.
To add on, a brief history about our founder, who’s name is Kevin Paquet. A 16 year old Teenager from the durian city, Davao. What is Pinoy Teens for you? What is your prediction for us in the fututre? Well, we see the Filipino Youth to be highly progressive in the future, and we are confident with that statement, we’ve seen a lot of development in the early stages of the present generation, and well, the future lies with us, the Filipino Teens.

Experiencing Aliwan Fiesta 2008

It was my first time to cover an event as big as the Aliwan Fiesta, the Philippines’ Mother of all Fiestas/ Festivals, as it gathers different festivities in one location. This year, there were 22 festivals that were showcased–the colorful indigenous costumes, beadworks, facepaints, the heart-pounding beats, the different dance moves, chants, and the ready smile they wore can never be forgotten.
Despite the sudden downpour at exactly the time when it should start, never dampened the high spirits of the participants, spectators and photographers. In the midst of the rain, the drummers went to their instruments and pounded their drums like they were calling the gods to stop the rain and let the festivities continue. The crowd cheered on every drumbeat! The photographers would not like to lose this photo opportunity! Many of us who were in the stands covered our cameras and went out into the rain to capture that “Kodak Moment” (I have some in my Flickr album). Indeed the gods heeded the call to stop the rain, and the festivities went on like nothing happened. Despite their being soaked in sweat under the heat of the sun earlier, and soaked in the rain, the performers went on to entertain the people. It was a sight to behold. A hair-raising experience!
