AVG not updating, .bin file missing?

This morning, as I open my computer, I noticed that the AVG icon on the right lower part of the screen turned black, and has the red exclamation point at it. That means that there is something wrong with AVG. I immediately checked what’s wrong with my AVG and I saw that the update manager is having the ‘x’ mark.

    1 – Start up AVG,click Update Now.
    2 – The list of updates is shown in Popup, click on the more information link.A list of updates will be shown.
    3 – Click on and save all updates in a file except the last one – http://downloadfree.avg.com/update/u7iavi1616oo.bin – because this is causing the problem.
    4 – Cancel the update and instead click on Tools > Update from Directory and go to the file where you saved the updates.Install these and AVG should be working properly again.

    My avg too is not working. It has a ! mark on it. Same problem when I update my free AVG it does says A .bin file missing.

    Thank you for your tip. Obviousely, all the AVG users were affected. This problem made line 25 on the Google Hot Trends list for yesterday!

    Just open AVG select Tools update from directory then select your AVG directory

    Try the solution at http://ajphenomenal.blogspot.com. The solution there seems to have resolved other people’s issue about this error.
