Big Stan
I didn’t find the movie funny at the start compared to Schneider’s previous movies. But as the movie goes on and on, I started to get into his jokes and laugh hard. This movie reminds me of ‘The Longest Yard’ by Adam Sandler.

Feeling under the weather
I had quite a “chatty” day today.
Spent most of the morning and the early part of the afternoon on messenger with friends. With that being said, most of you probably are starting to get that all warm and fuzzy feeling because, well, you know, nothing brings warmth to the heart than the thought of having quality time with friends, right? Wrong.
If it were a boxing match, I tell yah, I would have come out of it all black and blue and wouldn’t have made it to the 3rd round, na-ah.(Find out why by clicking here)
Spratly: Time is Running Out
With the problem of MILF secessionist taking the headlines, the issue of Spratly and the Baseline Bill are now gathering dust in the shelves of congress. Time is running out. House Bill 3216 otherwise known as “An Act Defining the Archipelagic Baselines of the Philippine Archipelago, Amending for the Purpose Republic Act 3046, as Amended by Republic Act 5446” should now be passed or discussed in congress.
The United Nations Convention on the Laws of the Sea (UNCLOS) requires every archipelagic nations to establish its archipelagic baseline by May 2009 or else the exclusive economic zone shall become an international waters or be owned by the neighboring countries claiming such territorial boundaries. Spratly group of islands are being claimed by China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, and Taiwan; and the way Philippine officials are conducting themselves dragging the baseline law in the sidelines of “kangkongan” so many years overdue, it won’t be far that we will be left again eating the dust in the “pancitan.” It has been almost ten years now since UNCLOS gave the time limit on May 13, 1999 and we have only eight months left to fast-track the Baseline Law or we will be knocking our heads on the wall in disgrace. Halili-Cruz Ballet School
It is probably one of the best dance and ballet schools in the Philippines. Their students performed very well during the 10th Asia-Pacific Dance Competition in Singapore last July. Many in the Philippines must have read about it in the papers there. I have a niece who joined them for the first time this year. So, along with her mom, my younger sis, they traveled to Singapore to join the team. When I was young (ehem) and in our place, ballet was not so popular as in the cities. Although at school, we had the basics for dancing in our PE classes. But it never went beyond that. Folkdance was much cheaper so we had to settle for it. It would have been nice for our posture and the way we hold ourselves if we had ballet as part of our regimen …

Are U-turns saving us money?
According to a recent study (reported here by the Philippine Daily Inquirer) by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), u-turn slots are helping us save quite a hefty sum. The study reports that the U-turns slots instilled by the MMDA generates Php 40 million to Php 50 million in savings for motorists each year since 2005. These savings are brought about by the increase in the average vehicular speed on major roads where 23 U-turn slots have been placed by the MMDA. According to the report, Php 2 billion are saved each year by motorists in terms of gains in productivity and opportunity alone. As for fuel savings, motorists are saving Php 42.84 million on nonwidened roads and Php 51.45 millon on widened roads.
I think most of you would be scratching your heads right now. Really? We’re saving that much? It doesn’t actually feel that way. U-turns have been, for the most part, hasseling most of us — often adding burden to an already congested road. I’m not even mentioning the hazard the concrete blockades brings at night. I do think that U-turns are saving us money in some way. However, let’s look at it from another perspective – costs.

New Olympic events for GRP
In the midst of finger-pointing and the blame game, it’s back to square one for Team Philippines as the debacle in Beijing takes center stage at next week’s sports summit of sports leaders.
I strongly suggest that the country, aka GRP (to align with GB, host of the 2012 Games), concentrate in the following events where I am certain our sports leaders can easily take podium positions:
