Goth Milk?

Just a few days ago, we bought some bread at a local bakery. Letting my eyes wander around the small stall while waiting for our ensaymada to be handed over to us, one thing caught my attention: a laminated coupon bond with a full paragraph written on it, stating that the shop do not use milk products from China for their goods. It sought to extinguish any fear from their patrons as it hanged just in front of the cashier, visible enough for the buying customers to come across it as they line-up to pay. I dare not mention the name of the establishment. Suffice it to say, though, that it owes its name to that girl with golden locks of hair with the family of three bears nowhere in sight. And no, it isn’t Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Hairy Bears.

Para sa Pinoy Konsyumer

The blogosphere welcomes yet again another empowering venue for the masang Pinoy!

Bilang consumers, we Filipinos, often than not, don’t have much choice in the kind of service we are being rendered, except to take it all with a grain of salt. Madalas, we just bear it and smile, pero with a heavy heart and deep inside, we can’t help but wish na sana magkaroon naman ng ngipin ang batas na nagbibigay proteksyon sa mga consumers, kung meron man.

As ordinary Pinoy telecommuters and bloggers, we have experienced mistreatments from several service providers over the years and always had to face a blank wall in case we opt to file complaints. Providers of internet service, telephone, postal, banking among others seem to have a tight grip on the consumers’ necks. Sad to say, poor quality of service is rampant sa kahit anong establishment, agency o company sa ating bansa and there is really nothing we can do about it.

That is why we welcome BalutPress.Com, a new website that aims to empower the Pinoy consumer by offering its webpages as a collective venue for consumers to air out their grievances against these erring service providers. If we contribute by submitting stories, videos or pictures of our complaints, we will be helping the many other consumers out there by warning them against these entities. In turn, ang mga entities na inirereklamo ay magkakaroon din ng pagkakataon na baguhin ang uri ng serbisyong kanilang ibinibigay sa mga patrons nila.

Ano pa hinihintay nyo? File your complaints na! :)

“My Horrible Experience With my Cousin’s Wife”

What are your primary reasons why you write? Do you get money out of it or it is just for plain pleasure for seeing your blogs being read by other people? Maybe, maybe not. As for me, I write because I want to vent out my feelings and thoughts, whether they are sad, negative, happy, or destructive ones. I just want to write that’s all. For a person who lives a very mind-numbing life, it is not surprising that I do not have so much to write about except about myself and my experiences in everyday basis. Speaking of which, something has just come up into my mind and prompted me to write about it. It is about the wife ( I don’t know if they are already legally married though), of my cousin’s who I really do not know in terms of her dealings with other people because I have not seen her nor talked to her for more than a decade for several reasons. Anyway, the first time I got to talk to her was almost two years ago, at my cousin’s wedding. Of course, most of our relatives came to witness that event. One of my male cousins is quite close to her that one time he encouraged me to go to their house somewhere in Cainta. The first encounter was great; my cousin’s wife was really accommodating and hospitable. One time, she even invited me to go with them in going to Bicol for the “All Saint’s Day” observance, which I gladly accepted.

Everything went well during that 3-day stay in Bicol. We continued communicating and we even agreed on meeting one Sunday afternoon in one of the malls in Makati. From the very beginning we started talking, there is one thing that I noticed about her. She always borrow money from me. Well, I thought that was fine, if I could afford it, I will lend her, provided of course, that she pays me back. When we were still in Bicol for our 3-day “All Saint’s Day” vacation, she already borrowed me 1,000 pesos in total, which I told her not to pay me anymore because I felt that it was only proper of me to chip in for the gas and other expenses. I am not sure though up to this day, if my cousin knew about that money. Few weeks after that, she borrowed money from me again in the pretext that one of her sisters was in the hospital and that her family really needed money. So, being soft-hearted, I lent her money once again, which she promised to pay after one week, which she failed to do so unfortunately. She was able to pay me back after two weeks or so. It was fine with me because I was not really in need of money that time.

Most dietitians and nutritionists are in the same opinion that “spinach” is one of the foods that can help you delay the effect of aging because it is packed with Vitamin K which is primarily responsible for the enhancement of bone density which in the long run decreases the chance of getting bone fractures especially among older people. In addition, spinach is very rich in nutrients called “zeaxanthin” and “lutein” which helps eyes, particularly retinas from getting damaged when they are exposed to light. In other words, spinach is really good in terms of preventing you from being blind and macular degeneration.
